Memphis lost to Marshall. Houston lost to ECU.

SMU and Temple in blowout losses in games they never showed up in.

Boise lost to SDSU, beaten previously three times before including 4th Place Washington Huskies in their 6 team division and Fresno and San Jose.

Certainly bad timing for tv contract negotiations. Sometihing else should give tv pause. There were very few people in the stands for SMU/UCF game and UConn/USF game. They are not the only home Nbe games with poor attendance this season.

I know you guyz love to paint these scenarios of Nbe having 4 to 6 ranked teams. Here is another scenario. The B12 doesn't want a conference championship game, thus getting at least 2 or more teams in the BCS bowls. A PAC writer expressed the same sentiments.

In the Nbe, a twice beaten Nbe team (like Boise) could beat an unbeaten Nbe team (like Louisville).

Congrats to Louisille! It appears the Cards are the real deal.

Let's see:

SMU lost to a 7-2 UCF...a future nBe school
Temple lost to #10 Louisville...one of the best teams in the Country.

A 2 loss Boise State lost to future nBe school San Diego State yet still ranked in All 3 Human Polls-(AP, Coaches & Harris Poll)...very well could be ranked in the Top 25 in the BCS later Tonight...if so shows the respect that Boise State has gained. Rutgers is also ranked in All 3 Human Polls as well.

You also forgot that Louisville-Cincinnati had a very good "Friday Night" TV ratings for ESPN and also ESPN & the BIG EAST has extended the Exclusive Rights Negotiation...

Very good possibility that you will have 3 nBe schools in the BCS Top 25 when the polls come out @ 8:30pm 2night.

There's only one explanation for tallgrass' obsession .... jealousy. Nothing else can explain that behavior. He's just pissed that Tulsa was left behind. If Tulsa had been invited to the Big East, he'd be one of the biggest Big East proponents on these boards.

So let him blow off some steam. It's healthy for him and humorous for us.

Louisville hasn't lost a regular season game to a MAC school in almost 40 years. That wouldn't change this year.
CJ

How often do you play MAC teams in the regular season? In any case, if Temple is essentially a MAC team then so is most or all of the Big East.

Hey its ok if Louisville does not play MAC teams anymore Kent can keep their winning record against them (Kent is 9-8 all time). We don't have that many teams we can say that about.

One day Tulsa was in a good confernece. The next morning we woke up to find the conference disappeared over nite at a 2 hour meeting at the Denver Airport. My primary concern is that CUSA remains a viable conference. So far, so good.

My other interest is a side show, the exaggerated claims made by Nbe fans. Past is prologue and the exaggerated Nbe claims remind me of the MWC with its now new logo "Above the Rest." I knew when Nbe fans started posting their Times Square Banners on the CUSA board along with the exaggerated claims, it just wasn't in the cards. So, like the MWC saga, I will play along and have some fun.

I hate to inform you but there are currently 12 teams in conference USA and only 3 of them will be going bowling. One of those three teams is leaving for the Big East next year and is looking like the favorite to win the conference every week.

Yes Memphis is bad and Houston is rebuilding but you can't even pretend UAB, Marshall, Rice, Tulane, Southern Miss, UTEP, FIU, and UNT are on a upward swing. Then to rub salt in the wound your adding a UNCC team who has yet to even play a game and a UTSA who may not even make 6-6 with a beyond terrible schedule.

La Tech is a pretty solid addition have to give them props but none of their seniors are going to play in conference USA. Conference USA is going to be pretty bad for quite a few years.

I have to defend CUSA a bit here...

You say they're only going to have 3 bowl teams....

SMU/Rice winner should get to 6 wins. SMU has Southern Miss left(boy, who would have thought that sentence would have made sense 2 months ago), and Rice has UTEP left.
Houston/Marshall winner should get to 6 wins. Houston has Tulane left, Marshall has UAB left
If SMU or Houston lose their game that I mentioned, but upset Tulsa, they would be going bowling as well....

However, you do bring up a great point about La Tech. Not only their seniors, but I'd ask about their coach as well....

To be fair Louisville opening game next season is against Ohio in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on 31 August 2013.

For our sake we hope Ohio and FIU have good seasons...with only 3 Sr. Starters in 2012 and the bulk of our roster coming back we will try to make a run for a BCS Title...if we do what we are supposed to do to finish this year we will start out 2013 in the Top 8-10.

Point taken but this is still furthering my point. If SMU/Houston make bowls those are still going to be teams leaving not conference USA teams going forward. Marshall is going to need some magic to win out, Houston is not a lock to win out either, Nor is Rice, or SMU. They may squeeze a fourth team in at 6-6 if one of those teams finish strong.

Marshall and Rice if they win the one game has a good chance at making a bowl- they'd need 1 more win each. You are right though it does CUSA in some ways no good for SMU/Houston to go bowling- that just helps the NBE out in a lot of ways.....

I'd say CUSA is a lock for 4 teams and a pretty good chance at 5...

Stupid OP again Tallgrass. Who doesn't beat Memphis?

SMU losing to UCF is a push. Same with UL beating Temple. Same with Boise beating SDSU.

On point until the bold part. The nBE fans have been jumping around like howler monkey bragging about how Boise was going to get an at-large BCS berth, so while the majority of your post is on point, the bold part was disastrous for a conference desperately trying to prove it's relevance.

Yeah, that was a typo anyway...... I do agree that nBE posters have been a little over-zealous but I don't think it matters one bit to be totally honest in the big picture. UL is in the top 10. Boise & Rutgers are in the top 25. UCF could finish top 25 the way things are looking. I wouldn't complain with that at all. Look at our situation in comparison. The CUSA remnants (and it's sorry ass incoming teams) looks a run down trailer park on fire sandwiched between a nuclear plant and a landfill.

RE: Yet another disastrous weekend for Nbe
I think in some ways, SDSU did the NBE a big favor by beating Boise. This Boise team just isn't all that great this year, and probably gets run by FSU in the Orange Bowl if they had made it. The perception for the NBE would not have been great at all. So, by Boise losing, the team that will be on the stage, Louisville, is the one that the NBE wants out there. It also does elevate SDSU quite a bit, which is good for the NBE as well.....

He has a point. SDSU is 7-3 now. This is gonna be their 3rd strait bowl year and they keep getting better. The game shows that Boise and SDSU are both assets in making the conference stronger.
But you have never been one to add things up on your own so this is not much of a shocker.

So Boise going to it's 3rd straight (at best) Las Vegas Bowl is better for the nBE than Boise getting the crap kicked out of themselves in the Orange or Sugar.

Whatever you two are smoking, please pass it this way. It must be some damn good stuff.

If Boise lost 70-33 to FSU, you know what folks would be saying about the Big East.....

Looked at a projection- Boise in Las Vegas Bowl- playing a Pac 12 team that easily could be a top 25 game. They have Washington projected right now, they're #29 in the BCS right now... Also- San Diego St goes to the Poinsettia bowl to play BYU- that's better than they woudl have gotten....
