In one thread, he refers to UTEP and "Their football program".

In this thread, he refers to Floyd as "ruining my team".

As soon as enough of you ask for it.... The troll repellent on the UTEP board will be sprayed.

I say do it... When someone admits they're here to stir the pot, it never ends good. The guy is a nutcase.

Unrealistic or not, I think UTEP had the talent to go to the 16. There are others on this forum who think UTEP could go to the elite 8 next year. I don't see you calling them unrealistic.

I'm just explaining why I don't like Tim Floyd. If you and others think I deserve to be banned for that. So be it.

I'll call them unrealistic. Absolutely. I'd love for UTEP to go to the elite 8 next year. I don't think it's realistic at all though.

You see. It wasn't so hard for us to agree after all.

You thought the team was sweet 16, yet they lost in the first round of the tournament the year prior and lost Caracter and MULTREE during the off season.

RE: we landed hamilton!!!
Don't you know troll math randaddy?

Championship Team = First Round Loss

Championship Team (which consisted of AM) minus DC plus AM = Sweet Sixteen run

In troll math, even though AM was already a part of the championship team, him staying would somehow substitute for DC's loss.

Get it together man!

If you don't think that team with AM would have won CUSA and and won a couple of NCAA tourney games that fine.

At least I'm not predicting that the current team with a losing record will go to the Elite 8 next year.

I took as folks thinking the Miners would have the tools to get to an Elite 8.... Predicting they will is a different thing.

If a team with AM and DC lost in the first round, why would a team with AM but without DC go further? Why? Why? How?

Because that team would have been more experienced. You have to remember that they lost to a team that eventually made it to the finals.

There is no telling how far a team can go if they get hot at tournament time.

Suggesting that UTEP had not chance of making a run because they lost the previous year is silly.

Lost their best player. Not that they lost in the first round.

I'm sure it has happened before.

Do you know of any teams who lost their best player and actually did better in the tournament then next year?

RE: we landed hamilton!!!
Wouldn't you know it. It only took me a few minutes to find a team that lost their best player and did better in the tournament than the previous year and even under a new coach.

Imagine that?

This Kentucky team lost Derek Anderson ( their best player) to graduation and the next year went on to win the national championship.

The 1997-98 Kentucky Wildcats clawed their way back to a third straight title game, winning the NCAA National Championship over Utah 78-69. The road wasn't easy, however, with dramatic second-half comebacks against Duke and Stanford just to get to the final game (not to mention weathering the SI cover jinx and having Tim Higgins referee one of their games). Kentucky played through much adversity, including starting the season off with new coach Orlando "Tubby" Smith who replaced Rick Pitino. His inaugural season was an unqualified success as he posted a 35-4 record.

This championship was especially sweet as not many fans in the Commonwealth truly believed that this Kentucky team had the talent to win the top prize. To many, it was viewed as a rebuilding year and a year for Coach Smith to implement his coaching style on the team. An early blowout loss to defending champion Arizona drove home the point that this team lacked much of the talent found over the previous years under Pitino. A home loss to a mediocre Louisville squad caused even the most optimistic fans to question whether this team had what it took to compete for a national title. But Coach Smith weathered the storm and regrouped his team. The seniors, Jeff Sheppard, Cameron Mills and Allen Edwards stepped up their leadership and the Cats depended heavily on the energy of newcomer Heshimu Evans and the experience of Scott Padgett, Nazr Mohammed and Wayne Turner. The squad gelled as a team during the SEC regular season and stormed through Atlanta on the way to an SEC Tournament Championship. Once in the NCAA Tournament, their leadership, desire and experience went into overdrive as their team concept led to a well-deserved championship.

RE: we landed hamilton!!!
You are seriously comparing the 97/98 UK team to the 2010 Miners?

By the way, DC scored 20 in the loss to Butler. Moultrie had a whopping 3. And ol' Dante Culpepper had 16. Who was the second best player, again?

Where do you get the idea that I am comparing the two teams?

The point I am making is that teams can lose their best player and in fact improve the next year.

Moultrie may have had only 3 points in that game but how does that prove that he would not have had a great season the following year.

You seem to be suggesting that because he scored 3 points in one game the previous year that he would not have helped the Miners the following year?

Moultrie averaged 12 points a game in the SEC the following year. I'm sure no one would argue that CUSA was a better conference than the SEC.

You are using the UK team as a basis of comparison to show that UTEP might, just might, have had a better year if AM didn't leave. That, in the most truest form, is comparing two teams.

No, I am stating that Moultrie had 3 points in the biggest game of the year, and that suggests that he wasn't the star in waiting you so desperately cling to in your delusions of grandeur about CTF's jock.

Moultrie did not average 12 points the next year. He sat out the year, per NCAA transfer regulations. He may have averaged 12 points on a loaded, but underachieving, SEC team the year after that.
