Hating on Ohio State, being a closet Northwestern fan (Unless you're a Illinois or Iowa fan), you don't have to hate Michigan, you just have to hate their fans. I'm rather young so idk many traditions.

Looking down on Nebraska? They've been pretty well liked so far I thought. Haven't had time for their fans to rub enough people the wrong way yet (they'll get there though, it only takes a few).

First off, **** Northwestern.

Secondly, no matter who we lose to outside of the conference, never forget we are better than them. 04-rock

Thirdly, if they disagree just talk money and they will soon agree.

Fourth, I hope someday you guys get to have the experience of going to the Rose Bowl. Whatever Maryland folks make it there, it's damn expensive, they will never again question joining the Big Ten.

Fifth, history is on our side and that is never a bad thing except to those that don't have history on their side!

I am sure I missed the important stuff.

I have seen on remarks about their academics and loss of AAU status on countless boards. I don't think it's mean spirited, but taking shots at a schools academics is low class.

RE: Any b10 traditions to be aware of?
Things to know about the Big Ten:

1. Conference history: The conference is the oldest conference out there (Ivy League wasn't formally a conference for a long time). It wasn't officially called the Big Ten till the early 80s, but that was an old name by then. The original nickname though was the Western Conference. At the time of its formation, the Midwestern states (Middle West) would have still been thought of as western and the eastern schools would have mostly been thought of the Ivy League types on the east coast. The name was still used at least somewhat through the 60s.

2. There are a lot of trophy games in the conference and some are very important. You may not think of something like Michigan-Minnesota as very important, but The Little Brown Jug is something both fanbases value. A general rule with the trophies though is the more organic they were, the better and more emphasis is placed on them. The ones that were created in conference boardrooms (Hero Trophy) aren't as good (even if the rivalries sometimes are).

3. There is more a mix in the fanbases between tradition and progress than in other fanbases. You go to most the boards, you'll see every bit as much hate for the BCS on Big Ten boards as others, but you also have strong pockets who believe the Rose Bowl tradition and emphasis on regular season and conference championship over a national championship is a bigger deal (I'm one of them).
