I'd enjoy having WKU in the same conference as us. I know ODU's not a full conference member yet, but we got our AD from WKU, maybe he'd put in a good word to CUSA about them?

Yeah, this conference is pretty much just a holding company for teams that want to jump ship to the Big East. It's the other Sun Belt. We'll lose UTEP, Tulsa, and maybe Rice to the MWC soon.

Yep, if this is all we lose, I'm backing away from the ledge. Tulane sucks from a Rice perspective - like-minded school, good road trip, but La Tech is a much better program. ECU is a great program, but I can see over time Charlotte and ODU seeming like a fair trade.

Am I happy about it? No. But I don't see a need to rush to replace them.

My vote is 1.) WKU and 2.) MTSU, Ohio, or ASU. WKU has a nice football program and a very nice basketball program. MTSU has been shaky in football and inconsistent in basketball. Ohio gets the conference into Ohio. Arkansas St has a great football program. Any of these additions is an improvement over the recent Tulane product.

Why would Ohio want to join this cluster? The MAC is rated higher than CUSA in football as it is and knocking on the door of a BCS bowl. All your markets are leaving and with it probably a chunck of your tv dollars and eventually bowls. There is no incentive for Ohio to leave the stability of the MAC for the chaos of CUSA.

And last year C-USA had teams knocking on the door as well.. that's just a year-by-year thing.

This is frustrating as a USM fan.. again, we help put together a conference, and then everyone we _help_ just gets to a possibly bigger contract.
