A humble Tulane fan's response
Hey yall, (sorry for ANOTHER thread, didn't want buried)

I am excited with this news because it opens doors for Tulane financially and keeps us with a lot of old CUSA Metro teams. I get to see us play Boise St (where I'm from, parents season tickets) and get to see some better basketball.

That said it has been an honor and privilege wining, dining, and cussing, at some of the best fans in CFB. CUSA fans are generally more intelligent and more passionate (the right kind) than many a BCS program. I love this forum and will continue to post/check in if that's alright with yall.

I am saddened most by our loss (if this all comes to fruition) of games with Rice and USM, so hopefully they continue.

Stay drunk n merry, see ya on the field,
JD

RE: A humble Tulane fan's response
You know, I keep hearing about how everyone hopes USM will continue to play them even though they got left behind in a minor league.

I hope they don't. If you want to play USM, let them in your goddamned conference.

If it were up to me, I'd bring USM and Marshall along for the ride.

At least Tulane fans don't have to worry about losing to Tulsa every year anymore.

Congrats.

At this point I think Charlotte is the only founding member of CUSA that is not in the BE. Maybe UAB too? Not sure, that is a bit before my time.

I can understand that attitude, from a USM perspective. I feel the same way towards other schools.

But just for the record, I have loved my trips to Hattiesburg going back to 1989 and I hope the two schools will remain on the schedule.

Don't be too sure of that. After the BE loses more schools they will add more. Tulsa may be next.

JD, classy statement that is agreed by many Tulane fans on this forum including myself.

I have a huge amount of respect for everyone in this conference and wish nothing but the best for each and everyone of your schools. I have had a blast reading this forum and will continue to do so and root for your schools.

USM was definitely a founding member. UAB was the first team added, but not a founding member, IIRC.

We've had to put up with this **** since 1996 and no one even recognizes that!

RE: A humble Tulane fan's response
We know that we've sucked on the field. They could pick anyone else and they'd be better than us. We were picked because of AAU, market, large eastern alumni bases, and a long-term relationship with BE schools, as a charter Metro Conference and C-USA members and actually having fielded quality teams out there in the fairly recent past, during C-USA's infancy and in the metro years. And most of all, a significant commitment of resources.
Our good fortune. But looking at the BE core, taking out the teams that pretty obviously will move up, us and ECU won't be the last C-USA teams moving to the BE.

I'm thrilled about this move but I must admit, it feels like a dog being chosen from a kennel. Yes we're "moving up", but it's really just a reconstituted version of C-USA. As if we were playing musical chairs and just were fortunate enough to get a seat to reshape the league.

As an East Coast guy I also have mixed feeling because I grew up on The Big East. I remember it from it's infancy. THIS... isn't the Big East I knew. Regional games vs Navy, Temple and whomever is in the BBall league feels great though and Tulane in NYC for a BE Tournament is really amazing. I'll miss games vs USM and Rice though. I wish them both well and hope we retain some games vs them.

Yep.

I hope Navy will be in the same conference as Tulane, and as of now that is apparently going to be the case. But I wouldn't count on it lasting very long. We'll see.

+1. They're good people and I hope it somehow works out for them.

Thats a sweet statement and all but you guys were the least deserving of any school in the conference.

Youre entire athletic program is a joke.

Whatever - congrats on having Rick Dickson.

The only question I have is whether or not to maintain my annual appearance in the dome for a Tulane home game in a show of support for a (former) conference mate.
