No UTEP fans commenting on all the big east movement?
What are the thoughts of my fellow Miners?

Stay in the "new" cusa?
Approach mwc for an invite?
Hope for an airport meeting? Maybe BSU, SDSU are now having second thoughts. Maybe those two and BYU start a new conference considering how bad the mwc tv deal is. They might be ale to cherry pick for new western conference.

Strange days.

frankly IMO if Boise and San Diego St both go back to MWC, then it wouldn't surprise me if Houston, SMU, & possibly UTEP/Tulsa join them

The western side of the country could get very interesting soon. Who knows in the climate today UTEP could be in the BE. All i know is this stuff is ruining college sports.

airport, not only would it kill the big east, but you have a better football conference, and a bball conference to compete

Word has it that adding Tulane was partially done to solidify the Texas schools membership in the Big East. Work is ongoing on the Western front to solidify SDSU and Boise St, of which both schools were involved in the latest Big East expansion so it is not like today's happenings were a shock to them.

We need to go to MWC and let UTSA and NMSU be in a conference together. I hope we take Tulsa with us. There were some good rivalries in the WAC with Tulsa, Fresno st., and UTEP. Add UNM, UNLV, Air Force, Wyoming and Colorado St.
UTEP
Tulsa
UNM
Air Force
Colorado St.
Wyoming

Hawaii
SJSU
Fresno St.
UNLV
Utah St.
BYU

losing Memphis and ECU sucks. C-USA will still be fun to watch, but i would prefer the Miners go to the MWC, if invited. atleast UTEP would be making a move into a conference where there is some tradition and familiarity, just like what the CUSA East teams are doing. Tulsa and Rice are the only teams we have much history with. I love the additions of UTSA and UNT, but not enough to keep UTEP in an increasingly average conference. Anf its much more attractive to put our basketball program with UNLV, Nevada again, and UNM

I just can't see BSU and SDSU wanting to go to this new big east for football only. If it was for all sports then yes I could understand

That said, I would hate to see UTEP pay exit fees and entrance fees to get into the mwc only to see key members depart for a new conference if SDSU BSU and BYU go that route.

RE: No UTEP fans commenting on all the big east movement?
The BE adding 2 Eastern teams tells me that they are preparing for an Eastern-based conference. This hints to me that there is real concern over SDSU, BSU, heading back the MWC (otherwise, they would've anchored the West with Fresno, or other team).

If this is the case, then UTEP and Tulsa go west, young man.

Strange, this time I'm not PO'd. ECU, Memphis, and UCF make sense.

Tulane is a head-scratcher, but whatever.

I think when the BE commish says they aren't done and may go to 16 for football, he means it. I think at least 3 more MWC will be taken. Have to see what the landscape looks like before attempting to leap. May be a leftover conference involving MWC and C-USA west teams. Won't be long before we find out.

According to a tweet from CFBInsider (take that FWIW):

"My sources have confirmed to me that #BYU, #AFA, and #Fresno all turned down #BigEast invites. #BigEast in damage control trying to keep BSU"

That guy mentioned UTSA more times today than any person not a UTSA grad has ever mentioned ever. Clueless, clearly.

RE: No UTEP fans commenting on all the big east movement?
CUSA has been extremely good for UTEP. No UTEP fan can deny that, I have confidence that Stull has the school's best interests in mind. But right now I'm hoping his mind is on the MWC and not what additional schools CUSA will be adding. These are interesting times, but I am crossing my fingers for a four school package of UTEP, Tulsa, BSU and SDSU to the MWC fulfilling the latest fad of a 14 team conference. UTEP has to bite the bullet and pay up to be a part of a move like that.

utsa fan, you can't even bring in 30k on an 8-4 season, not to mention it is only your second season playing football... UTEP has better attendance in it's 7th losing season in a row than you have in your second season of existence... lady please!!!

I would love to see UTEP rejoin the MW. The Miners have a rich history with AFA and it would be nice to have you back on the schedule. I wouldn't mind seeing Tulsa join too, bringing us to a solid 12 team conference. Would be a fun conference to watch...

West: Fresno St, SJSU, Hawaii, UNLV, Nevada, Utah St
East: AFA, Colorado St, Wyoming, UNM, UTEP, Tulsa

Regardless if UTEP/Tulsa joins the MW or not, best of luck to CUSA going forward.

Great Idea!.

Then if Bosie and SDSU come back to the MWC add then to the West. If SMU and Houston come back, add them to the East.
