IWhat if ACC decides to take UL, UC, and UCONN???
Would the basketball schools of Big East still try and do football??

Would it kill off the BE football experiment?

At first, I didn't think ACC would want them leftovers. But after reading everything about the situation and the now potential mega basketball conference the ACC could become with Notre Dame, Syracuse, Pitt, UCONN, Louisville, and Cincy additions that would demand BIG MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

what if the BE decided to add Tulsa, USM, and UTEP in response?

where would that leave Marshall? just saying playing "what if" games are silly.

I bet the ACC adds UConn and calls it a day...

Don't get your pannies in a wad.
I was just curious how it would play out if indeed ACC did grab all 3.

Hey bud, Marshall is left out in the cold in any situation. So you can bash away all you want.

BTW, I wish your Memphis school luck in your new conference ventures, whatever that may be.

That is probably the least likely of the options but if it did happen then the Big East would just respond by raiding some more schools. For whatever reason there is still a hierarchy of conferences so the raiding rolls down hill.....There is value on the Big East name and it will always be perceived as a step up for conferences like CUSA, MAC, Sun Belt....

In reality the Big East is on the same playing level as the other Group of 5 schools but it will always be able to pick off schools just like the ACC has and will always be able to pick off schools from the Big East.

I think they have to The Big East brand is worth so much and as mediocre as their football is, it still brings in money. Plus, there's only seven of them--not enough for NCAA tourney eligibility, is it? Regardless, still not enough from a revenue standpoint. The football schools leaving is a gigantic blow to basketball because they are some of the best b'ball programs, too.

The better question may be whether or not the basketball schools will drive the football schools so insane that they end up splitting off.

I think the ECU and Tulane adds solidify the fact that the nBE isn't going anywhere. If the ACC takes all of UConn, UL, and Cincy (highly unlikely), there is no shortage of programs that would be interested in a "national, best of the rest" situation.

The nBE can remain viable, even as hodge-podge as it stands at this moment. I'm sure Aresco sees a few programs in the West that he plans on nabbing (most notably Fresno, and if we eventually go to a national, all sports league, UNLV).

CUSA, on the other hand, better hope it's UConn, and that's it.
