USM vs. the Big East
While being left out sucks I can understand the Big East's issues with us......

USM is 119-62-1 all time vs the new big east line up. Since 1996 we are 60-26 against them. Numbers dont lie.....Since '96 only Boise has a winning record against us.

uconn - never played
cincy - 5-3
usf - 3-1
ecu - 12-5
tulane - 11-2
ucf - 6-2
houston - 9-4
smu - 3-1
memphis - 11-5
boise st - 0-3
san diego st - never played

While we have lost some great rivals USM will be USM & we will beat anyone anywhere anytime!

Dude.. I bleed black and gold (I should really consult a doctor about it too) but after this past season, we can't really say Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime... Maybe at the end of September next season we can.

The B1G just chose Maryland and Rutgers over MANY options. The SEC took Mizzouri over FSU and Clemson and other optons. FSU and Clemson both have NATIONAL championships and many wins over both their conference and B1G conference schools. 'Tis a new day in college football. History, traditions and rivalries are the least of the conferences concerns.

Hands down, without a doubt, from top to bottom and back to the top...........USM has pretty much owned my beloved Pirates. It's teams like Southern Miss that lend credence to the fact that competitiveness and hard work ought to have a little more bearing on a schools worth when it comes to playing at the highest levels.

I really want USM in the Big East. Keep bringing up that damn record and I may change my mind 03-banghead (as if my opinion matters).

I'm very optimistic about Southern Miss Baseball this year.. And if the basketball team keeps playing like they are, I might get interested in college hoops again. I know EJ is gone and I was in a much better mood yesterday. What we built in years of tradition was brought down in 1 season. No one will remember the 18 years of winning or the 10 straight bowl appearances, they will remember the 0-12 season and throw it back at us.. Honestly, I think we as a fanbase needed it to humble us just a tad. I just hope whoever takes over next season has them boys bringing the funk.

Just the opposite. It proves she was right. A team's worth should be based on its competitiveness and hard work. Not by its ability to be propped up by others.

RE: USM vs. the Big East
We live in a world where hard work and achievement mean nothing. Where you will be given something for just being in the right place at the right time.

ECU, Tulane and all of the other C-USA teams did not take a step forward. We took a step sideways and will, for the most part, be playing the same teams in 2014 that we played this year.

Anyone looking at what happened to C-USA today has to realize that this is a step back for the current C-USA people who are left behind. The additions may be fine programs. But through NO fault of their own teams like USM, who has had a history of being rock solid, will get screwed by this process.

Florida and South Carolina couldn't have possibly had anything to do with FSU and Clemson being kept out of the SEC, right?

Yes, but that's not what's happening in reality

Exactly her point. She predicted in Atlas Shrugged that the country was headed down this path and that it wouldn't be a good one.
