How in the Hell do you pass over Texas State, Arkansas State, Delaware, JMU....for New Mexico State? This is just stupid.

Let's just hope this rumor is false. At least the latter half of it.

Ok, so NMSU and UTEP are like oil and water.

Why is this, if you don't mind my asking?

EDIT: I guess it's in the same market?

I have no issue with WKU- I wanted them as a replacement if it came to this. I don't know enough about NMSU to have an opinion, though I know they've had some solid basketball teams in the past. Others don't want, so I'm not sure why they would go this direction; but, then again, I totally don't get the FAU move.

WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the SunBelt take NMSU!!!!! This feels more and more like the sinking ship of the WAC. All we need now is that clown Benson to take over as commissioner. 03-banghead

I hope not....I really wanted to go to a game in El Paso. This would void that possibility.

They are located like 35-40 miles north of us, they have no major airport in Las Cruces, so you can still come here if you want to see a game against NMSU. 04-cheers

That would be very generous of C-USA to save NMSU's football program. With no other prospects out there, I don't think they would last very long as an Independent. I have to believe Idaho will be dropping back down to FCS very soon if this is true.

UTEP isn't on the chopping block. That was an odd way to put it.

Yeah, I could have put that better. I don't think an invitation to NMSt would be an inducement for UTEP to leave, but a reaction to their anticipated departure.

Either way, I'd still rather keep UTEP. 04-cheers

Agreed. I'm reading a CUSA invitation to NMSU as an indicator the UTEP has received and invite from Mountain West or Big East.

Thinking the same thing. CUSA is preemptive striking after reading the tea leaves of confrence realignment.

Which is a shame for me. It took some time but I got used to the idea of creating a rivalry with UNT and KFCSA. La Tech is absolutely solid so I was looking forward to that as well. I hate the saying, but this is going to be interesting...
