Well, for any SBC or WAC member...arguably on the fence MAC members CUSA is stronger bowl bid and money wise than where they are.

Because CUSA is a move up on the food chain in college football; from here you go to BE, from the BE to the ACC and it looks like the ACC will fill the needs of the Big 4 with Maryland leaving and many, many rumors of FSU and Clemson flurting with the Big 12...

If you are in one of the lesser perceived conferences and you don't take the invite, someone else in your conference will. It's kind of the same reason why ECU and Tulane had to make the move to the Big East. If we didn't, then USM or Fresno or someone else would have and then we would be left behind.

Basically...move to a not near perfect place or risk a worse fate.

The same reason someone would move from Haiti to Puerto Rico.

Getting left out of this conference shuffling has deeper implications than just being left out. We most likely have a coach looking for a way out, our big donors closing their pocketbooks, our fans becoming apathetic at the thought of playing more FCS start-ups, and much much more.

Back to the subject. Once upon a time it could be perceived CUSA was a step up the chain. But isn't this what the Big East is suffering from right now. The inability to keep their tradition rich and high profile programs and replacing them with less tradition nationally and lessor profile programs?

To me, it is only a move up if your marquee programs stay with the conference. All of the BE marquee programs say for UConn has departed. All of the marquee CUSA programs for the most part have departed. At this moment, I simply don't see CUSA as a move up unless it is truly a big deal to make $500,000 more than you are currently making.
