I like Tulane and mean no disrespect but if you think you are joining a conference that really wants you then you're not paying attention.

lol...I doubt the current members are all that thrilled with any of us.

Well you lost ECU at the same time....Net 0 for CUSA.

With Louisville gone, you guys will lead the BE in attendance, right?

This is the kind of disrespect Tulane has been getting from conference brothers since 1999. At least Tulane will now be joining a conference that wants them.

Yeah they want you alright: http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=602525

It's a 15-page thread and it's mostly positive.

I mean, it's not, but whatever. Listen, I like Tulane. I love the city, had some friends go there, and we took in a large number of students after Katrina. I've enjoyed having them in conference as a semi-like minded institution with solid baseball. But there is no universe in which Big East fans are happier about having Tulane in conference than Conference USA fans. And honestly, you'd probably prefer it that way. The Sun Belt would be even happier to have you and the SEC would be even less happy.

Read the threads on the BE site and you'll see that, overall, there's an acceptance of Tulane to the Big East. Ideally, Yes you could go with candidates who are better but from what I gather on the BE board we've been welcomed. Of course you're gonna have those who poo-poo the idea and express as much. Totally understand that. We've been in leagues with many of our new BE conference mates. They know Tulane and respect the school. Our welcome been about what we can ask for and quite frankly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more disdain in our addition. There are folks from schools that are less-familiar with Tulane who are skeptical but I think they'll come around. This is the world we live in in college athletics so I think we all just take it in stride and make the most of our opportunities.

I've nothing against Tulane, I was glad to have you in cusa but I do have a question. Why were you accepted for all sports while ecu was not?

Yep thankfully we will still be the kings of attendance smack over there as well.

The basketball schools made this decision. From what we are hearing, St. John's , Georgetown and Seton Hall pushed our admission hard. This decision may have stopped the split for the time being.

2012 averages leaving:

UCF-34,608
Houston-27,247
Memphis-24,371
SMU-21,292
Tulane-18,085

2012 averages remaining:
UTEP-29,374
USM-25,751
Marshall-24,896
Rice-22,390
Tulsa-20,418
UAB-15,271

ECU's attendance is accurate, but the rest is ridiculously inflated. Especially Memphis and SMU...LOL

You don't have a clue about Memphis attendance, but knowledge has never been a requirement for posting on message boards.

UNT will do well in CUSA. The remaining schools are a great group of programs and fans to be with and LaTech also brings those same qualities into the conference. Good luck to the Mean Green.

Are you serious??? I enjoyed having them in CUSA because it was a close fun destination. However we're only about 90 miles apart and when they played in our house maybe 50-100 fans would show up. Well respected institution but not much in sports other than baseball.

Apparently you weren't at the games in 1998, or when Sammy Winder, Reggie Collier or Louis Lipps were playing. Had you been there you would know how much better Tulane draws when winning. BTW, I have always been a fan of USM, but I didn't see too many Eagle fans at the last two USM home games.
