It will indeed look like the CUSA those schools left, but better than the CUSA that remains.

Agreed, I don't get all the Herd hate on the nBe. If they were there, they'd be loving it. Just like Charlotte, UAB, ODU or SoMiss fans.

Why? Take a snapshot of the BE today and, sure, UAB fans would be happy mostly due to the upgraded basketball slate. But everyone knows that the conference has been slowly, but steadily, tearing itself apart for years, and now the bones are nearly picked clean with at least two schools searching desperately for a way out. Then there is the realization soon of what's been looming since last Summer with the basketball schools disassociating themselves (in whatever manner). So we celebrate(?) for a day something that will never actually happen (playing in a football BE) and start the hand-wringing over how the post-BE world is going to shake out.

And, please, make the argument that the BE picked CUSA's bones clean...that doesn't resolve any of the critical issues or change the fact that "Group of Five" is still "Group if Five".

I did not say I hated the nBe! Earlier ECU post stated that the remaining CUSA schools hated from the lack of a nBe invite. I do not hate the nBe and I am not upset over not getting a nBe invite. Check my previous posts. One way or the other I am a Herd fan!!! I was in the SoCon, the MAC and CUSA and will be if the Herd were playing in the Siberian B League. My analysis of nBe is based on what you are saying... take away SDSU, Boise, UConn & Cincy and add some combo of USM, Marshall, Tulsa, UTEP, La Tech, ODU, UAB or Charlotte and what would you have? Yes all of us would go but my point is exactly what my post suggested... at that point the nBe would be a version so close to the CUSA they left that it would not matter.

Memphis left after Houston, SMU, and UCF. Tulane and ECU after that. And Tulsa, UTEP, and USM all seem to want out of CUSA as well.

The Group of Five didn't include the BE when any of those schools left. So, I don't think that was the motive or relevant as a critical issue for those schools.

Whatever happens, I'm still glad Memphis got out. If nothing else, at least for a year we'll get to play Cincy, Georgetown, Louisville, UConn, Villanova, Marquette, and Temple in bball.
