Recruiting Benefits of BE or whatever name
this conf will have. What types of benefit, do you think schools in the BE(or name to be determined) will have over Conf USA etc.. Any evidence from the new schools entering this year,SMU, Houston and Memphis, that leaving COnf USA for the BE has had on your own recruiting?

It's a recruiting advantage over the incoming C-USA schools. But with all the turnover and treadmill running, I doubt that it's an improvement over ECU 2010 recruiting.

It definitely had an impact on Memphis' basketball recruiting, multiple recruits stated so. But that was all before this last round of shake-ups.

Even in the current state, the new conference will be a step up from CUSA. Going foward playing UCONN, Cincy, Temple will be nice in conference competition, which we have not had the past few years on a consistent basis.

A few solid UC recruits have decommitted recently. It's hard to determine whether it's from Lyle's departure to Tennessee, or all of the conference uncertainty. I'd imagine a little of both.

RE: Recruiting Benefits of BE or whatever name
It's an established brand name that is associated with outstanding Basketball and BCS Football. It may not be the SEC or ACC but it's NOT CUSA, The Sun Belt, WAC or MAC. It's a known name in a region of the country where name matters: The Northeast. It's a name you can market and has a recognizable logo (see my sig.). It's a name you can recruit off of. Kids growing up know "The Big East" as a brand name and would more so figure to want to align themselves with it than some , say, new start-up league. TV networks know "The Big East" and can also sell that to advertisers when determining a TV contract. The history of the Big East (Basketball) can be used in recruiting for that brand. It also connotates a level of basketball excellence that programs should want to live up to, which helps the brand and helps in recruiting.

ECU will benefit in FB and Basketball. I predict we will benefit the most of any program. Stand back and watch the fun start...just get the hell out of the way!!!

As will Tulane. Nice we're coming in at the same time. We've got a lot of NE alumni, many of whom are casual sports fans. They'll be able to connect with the name "Big East".

Makes sense. Word association, driven by ESPN:
Big East basketball--Final Fours
Big East football--8-4 BCS teams getting blown out.

While the loss of all-sport schools hurt...for UCF, just being in the same conf with USF is a boost...as now both schools will be on equal footing on the field/court and off (same TV $$$, same TV exposure, same bowl line-up, etc...will help some in recruiting

This garbage is going to seriously hurt UC's recruiting. Everyone else takes a slight step forwards and UC takes a gigantic step backward.

I think in the short run..you are correct. All you can do is dance with the dates you brought to the party and hope that the league can make some noise, grow and benefit everyone in the long haul. Bringing in the teams from the west may provide more help recruiting than you think...especially if some X divisional games are part of the deal.

Yep, dance with the dates that brought you. I'm pretty sure that one day, the Big 12 or ACC will do this to us...and it will work out just fine for Cincy and UConn.

RE: Recruiting Benefits of BE or whatever name
This is kind of a small recruiting class for us and most of our upper C-USA caliber targets have already committed. We're still in play for a few, but we'll see on signing day how well the announcement will work for us.
