Three sources told me today that Boise's depature from the Big East is inevitable. “I would be shocked if it didn’t happen.”

Who is Pete Thamel?

Just wild speculation, but with rumors of BYU and the B12 talking, could this portend a B12 expansion?

If BSU backs out or leaves or whatever, then the new big east becomes best of CUSA plus UConn minus Loserville. Oh well.

Doubt it. BSU would be about 4th or 5th in line IMO for the B12 right now.

If this comes to pass, it will be interesting to see who UH and SMU cast their lot with.

Former NYT college reporter, now the same job with SI. A good, reliable journalist, unfortunately.

Like I have been saying all along, the all-sports conference idea never will work. Boise State has to do what is best for their school, which is probably go back to the MWC or seek other options. As usual, I turn out to be correct.

The Big 12 is after Miami and Florida State.

What is the general consensis if something like this were to go down? Stay with the CUSA/BE or go to the MWC with BSU/SDSU?

Wouldnt surprise me.

If this comes to pass, and i were running Houston or SMU, id prefer go out west. MWC will be far stronger than the BE.

Not really sure what the consensus is...I know I would rather stay cliqued up with Boise and SDSU.

Really?

Sounds like speculation, but it certainly doesnt sound far-fetched. I think they would have gone back by now if the Mountain West could ever figure out their issues with their TV contract.

If Boise and SDSU leave, it will be interesting to see who (if anyone) gets added. If Navy stays (another if), they will probably have a big say on #12.

ECU to the PAC ?numbers?!

I really don't care too much if they do leave. ECU made the correct move regardless.
