CBS - Boise state teeters between mw / be
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...work-rises

"CBS gets priority picks off the top of the MWC roster of games, about five. But the restructuring also allows the MWC to market games itself in packages to other networks, most likely ESPN and NBC Sports Network among others. The Mountain West will start a digital network, still a platform to be monetized fully by virtually all major conferences in the future. That will produce more revenue and more exposure for the conference."

"Chaos looms. Boise is considered the cornerstone of a new Big East because of its brand recognition. Plus, its Cinderella history of competing for national championship berths and playing in two BCS bowls in the last seven seasons. Boise president Bob Kustra guided the Big East move, but there is widespread speculation that coach Chris Petersen favors the Mountain West."

RE: CBS - Boise state teeters between mw / be
We can have the BE & MWC jockey for #6 conference status by splitting up the best nonAQ teams. Or we can take the best all sports teams from the MWC now and secure sole ownership of that spot, and create a huge gulf between the BE and the rest of the GoF.

We know what the fans on this board want. Hopefully the BE leadership has the vision and ability to make it happen.

Let it go, man. The all sports coast to coast idea is dead. So is the new league.

If they did it would have already happened and you wouldn't have invited Tulane to be part of a western division.

Welcome back Boise.

Good luck to the Big East going forward. Hopefully we can work together to break down the barriers we both now face.

RE: CBS - Boise state teeters between mw / be
There is some good information in the article, but why does Dodd have to be such a completely obnoxious tool by suggesting that if Boise leaves, the 6 BE invitees from CUSA would suddenly be "homeless". If Boise and SDSU leave, the Big East will still have 10 members in 2013. Even if Houston and SMU were to also leave, the group would still form an 8 team conference. Yet Dodd overreaches into sensationalism to declare that the CUSA invitees will be homeless with no way to return to CUSA.

The actual legitamate facts would indicate that the Big East situation is a complete dumpster fire--yet Dodd feels compelled to completely fabricate the "homeless" angle to stoke the fire. Im not one to find conspiricies in the press---and frankly, I dont think this article is conspiritorial. I just think the "homeless" angle is incredibly incompetent journalism. Nobody will be "homeless" if Boise leaves. They will just be in a conference that is much less attractive and worth no more than the old CUSA.

The nationwide conference is dead. The Big East will survive as a low profile regional MAC style conference that dots the southeast and mid-atlantic. The contract will be mostly on the small regional carriers with a few games on NBC-Sports or CBS-Sports. Im ussually very optimistic, but things appear to be heading south for us at an accellerating rate.

This will most likely be the new Big East (or whatever it will be called) for the time being:

Connecticut
Cincinnati
Memphis
Temple
South Florida
Central Florida
East Carolina
Tulane

New name: OSC (On Stand-by Conference)

Even if all this broke down, we could just add c-USA schools like Marshall, USM, Tulsa, and whoever else. Other options of Charlotte and Umass too

S Miss, Tulsa, and Marshall would be the obvious candidates to go to 9 or 10. No need to go bigger. No need for a championship game. Just play a round robin like the Big-12. Dodds suggestion that schools would be homeless is totally unfounded and completely irresponsible. Ive really never seen reporting that is this blatant in its level of irresponsibility. I am almost left to wonder if Dodd has a substance abuse issue.

We've added more than enough CUSA schools. As it is now, 8 of the 10 are either current or former CUSA members as it is. 03-banghead Besides, Aresco has already said after we invited Tulane that we wouldn't add anymore CUSA members. There's none left that could have an impact on the new conference or money. USM just went 0-12. No thanks. Rice? LOL. UAB? Yeah right. Marshall? I quit.

So you give up? We don't even have to woo Boise back; you just quit?

Cool. Now they have to come back.

I would think there would be a need an upper east coast team in there.

Northern Illinois, Ohio, Ball State, Kent State and UMass would all be much better options than Southern Miss, Marshall, UAB or Tulsa. Hell Arkansas State has better pull now than those 4 CUSA members.

The guy has been hanging around the SDSU and mwcboard for as long as they've existed. Yoda out is actually the smartest thing he says.
