No way is the Big East going for that. Everyone else would expect the same deal. I'd love to have Boise but they aren't worth a special deal.

Don't look now but you can bet that if the MWC allows Boise to do that, they'll let BYU return with the same kind of deal. So paraphrase Andy Katz, so doing would allow the MWC to remain relevant from a football standpoint. However, that shows the desperatation of Wyoming, UNM, USU and the other dreck in that conference.

Obviously SDSU isn't falling for that **** - letting BYU and BOise get their own deal and provide wellfare for WYO. Bobby K is overplaying his hand.

you just now figuring out that Boise is all about boise and none else?
sad part is your school is hitched to them. dumb move by your admin

Yet it was some BSU fans that were "warning" all of us how how BYU would be a bad addition since "BYU only looks out for BYU."

Boise would retain there home rights...the MW could sell their road game rights.

Not if they were picked by CBS, which likely any of the attractive Boise road games would be.

Help me understand. The BE is projected to get 40 mil. The MWC is getting like 12 mil and "may" get 25 mil. Why are they waivering.

So you're down to 4 games that can bring the conference any money. Now what happens if they go on a losing streak? It is like feeding a extra mouth with little in return.

I don't either. The big idea for the MWC to make more money was that they got the ability to sell off some of their games that CBS didn't choose to increase the value, but if Boise keep their home games you can bet CBS would pick any of the valuable road games and they would gain pretty much nothing from them.

CBS only gets to pick 5 MWC games to cherry pick. They have to bid on any others they want to televise just like and other TV partner. 5 is not very many games

Link? Because I've heard much bigger numbers than that.

Just speculating but in the Big East, Boise would get only a football share while in the MW they would get a full share...plus the increased travel costs and Big West subsidy in the Big East. Not saying they should be wavering but this might be the rational.

That kind of deal looks like the MWC, if vanquished, might go for.
Otherwise, is Boise football worthy having a Prima Donna in your midst?

2.5 million a school per year in the MW WITHOUT Boise. A Big East without Boise or SDSU, without the Catholics, and assuming UConn and Cinci are guaranteed short timers (which the networks do believe), over the long term, we are likley to have virtually the exact same line up as CUSA circa 2012. Thats worth 1.2 million dollars a year unless Aresco works a miracle--even then, its probably will be similar to the MW contract.

boise is a media darling that didnt even become a 4 year school until 1965. they can literally disappear in 3 bad years of football. i have a great deal of respect for what they have done on the field but they can disappear from the national scene as fast if not faster than they arrived. they should really tred lightly.

The 40 million is the ESPN source estimate before the Catholics left. The article said take another 15-20% off due to thier absence.

40 million- 20% (no Catholics) = 32 million

32 million/14 = 2.28 million per team.

Boise = football only

2.28 x .7 = 1.59 million (football only share). They would make less here. That doesnt even take into account the entry and exit fees and paying travel subsidies in the Big West.

The only way I see these rumors being true is if the MW made a play for Houston and SMU and they both said no. Then Boise could demand outrageous terms to come back to the conference by themselves. Surely they would know that the Texas Two wouldn't come to the MW if they were going to be treated like step children.

Boise has 11 straight Bowl appearances. three Nevada Bowl wins against PAC 10 teams.
Possibly the greatest non AQ team ever.
Also has an incredible coach who has not left for a bigger pay check.
Boise is the biggest catch out there, besides Notre Dame.

Wow. Everyone is going off on Boise for one article, produced by a media company whose apparent goal is to destroy the BE since it was rebuffed by them last year, whose sources can't even be named (if they exist at all). Sheesh. No wonder these guys have no problem selling their stories, they have a bunch of patsies eating them up!

If Boise goes down this path I will have a hard time supporting them. If they want to go independent during this time of conference realignment uncertainty, that is one thing. But to look to be part of a conference and receive unfair treatment at the same time is ridiculous. I can't believe that it's even being considered, and equally stunned that the readers here aren't questioning the legitimacy of that article and its phony sources!
