Why would the nBE want UNLV???
Let's assume that the nBE wins the current tug of war over Boise State and they, along with SDSU do in fact move to the nBE for football only. And lets assume that the nBE comes back for two more schools and that BYU and USAFA continue to decline. The consensus of opinion seems to be that the next two would be Fresno State and UNLV.

While you might disagree with either one or both choices, I can at least see a case being made for Fresno. But I can't for the life of me figure out why the nBE would want UNLV for football only. In the past ten years, they have never had a winning season and, for seven of those seasons, they had exactly 2 wins.

Would somebody not named RebelRobert please explain to me what the draw is for UNLV -- for football only? All sports, I get. But football only, I don't.

Yoda out...

2 million person market (This is the group that picked Tulane, remember)

Huge athletic budget (How much of that is Thomas and MAck center revenues-and-expenses that aren't really UNLV-related?)

And, if anyone in reality is thinking about western all-sports, UNLV helps that option.

UNLV is brilliant.

Basketball is a great grab, and football, like Memphis, can always improve.

UNLV makes sense if we're going nationwide in all-sports.

Otherwise, not so much.

UNLV is a perfect fit for a metro conference. Great market, Great Travel designation, cheap flights if they go all sports, and a new football stadium coming. UNLV would get huge exposure in a national conference.

I say grab the schools with the most potential. UNLV is obviously one of them.

sure wish they'd just make some decisions and get teams in so people, typically the same people, would stop creating new threads about the same crap. Guess it's too difficult to post in on eo fhte other 300 threads about expansion.

...and 'Yoda out' is as lame and as oriignal as Ryan Seacrest's 'Seacrest out'. .... Can't get much more douch-like than that.

Choice A

or Choice B

Tough decision as to which choice would help bring in the most $$$$ via TV and potential bowl game(s) locations to the conference in the coming decades.

Thank you.

I didn't realize how large it was -- the population of LV isn't all that great and I didn't realize how much of the population was outside the LV city limits but was still local. Kind of surprised -- I grew up in LA and should know that I think but I moved out a long time ago.
