Enquirer article: "Thorton wins vs Hicks"
How misleading is that. Yeah, Thorton had the better stats, but Eric was double teamed every time he got the ball, by either Cage or Doellman, both of whom are a few inches taller than Eric. Not only was eric being guarded by a guy taller than him, the guys doubling him were taller than the guy guarding him.

SHoulda been titled "XU Frontline wins vs Hicks"

Yeah, Thornton and Doellman had a combined 3 fouls for the game. Hicks and McGowan combined with 7 fouls and Hicks was in foul trouble.

Like Hicks was going to challenge him.

It was very misleading.

It's delusionalville over there.

Great Headline John Fay

Anybody with any basketball knowledge knows you don't just look at points to see who won a battle. Hicks was just as much of a factor in the game as Thortnon if not more.

How many blocks did Hicks have-6? How many shots did he he alter.
Thortnon is a horse on the offensive end but is a defensive liability

Where is his article saying White dominated Doehlman because Doehlman only had 2 points? Doehlman came up with a number of steals and blocks and was a big factor in X's win even though the stats don't show it.

It is amazing how bad the hacks are for the Enquirer and Post.

Does Stanley Burrell always throw up tough shots that fall? I can see him being an AA when he is done. Great player.

Some sentences from the article:

Quote:Hicks was a victim of the Xavier game plan.

"They double-teamed him every time he touched the ball," UC interim coach Andy Kennedy said. "We anticipated that. We tried to get in to him some, so he could kick it out and get other guys looks."

...

Hicks made his presence felt early on the defensive end. He had three blocked shots before the game was five minutes old.

He finished the half with nine points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

...

Part of UC's problem was that Hicks did not take a shot in the second half until he made an inside shot with 8:51 left.

I do believe the writer does some diligence to the other side of the story. But, yes, I can see where the title would mislead those who don't read the article.
