Well, two of our 3 non-BCS bowls were in the top 7 in the ratings. Gator was 5th and Insight 7th. USF was the only crap TV draw finishing just behind a stellar CUSA/Sun Belt match up and only one place out of dead last. Even Memphis/Akron in a horrible MAC/CUSA match-up did better.

Have tigershark explain that one with the Tampa market. THis isn't a jab at USF. Just a jab at tigershark who seems to think that he knows more than onyone else about TV ratings. All I'm saying is that just because a school is in a major TV market doesn't automatically equate to ratings.

I agree. The Big East gambled on USF. I'm sure the Charlotte folks are none to pleased with either their craptastic fan base or their TV draw. Until the Big East adds another quality traveling program it will have to bend over backwards to maintain 3-4 quality bowl games with decent match ups. I will say that UCONN would have probably represented much better but the chips did not fall their way this past season so we were unable to see what they are capable of. Point is, it cannot be a 50/50 crap shoot in the lower half of the league for these bowls. PITT would be a good TV draw but probably not a good butts in the seats program from what I understand, UCONN would probably do really well, USF is horrid and has much work to do in this respect. I'm under the impression UC is nearly the same as USF as far as fans go except I would expect them to have better television numbers.

The 9th has to have a decent traveling fan base and national appeal.

If Notre Dame did decide to join the Big East (yeah, right), that would solve that problem. 01-wingedeagle

Charlotte folks were hoping that UCONN would become bowl eligible.

Like I said, we can't make things a 50/50 crapshoot for decent bowls.

don't get your hopes up i'm sure they'll be here soon enough. i didn't think we'd be that low but i knew we'd be in the bottom 5. objectively speaking if i wasn't a fan of either school that was a very ugly game to watch both offense couldn't move the ball at all and we're a relative unknown. 11am start time didn't help either.

obviously we're a work in progress, i think we surprised a lot of people to even get bowl elgible. but we had 3/5 games over 40,000 and set average and single game attendance records this year (besides our inaugural game), plus it was the most watched bowl game in tampa behind the bcs and florida bowls. so all is not lost, if we continue to win the support will be there.

I think we are all forgetting about the sleeping giant Rutgers. Not only did they do well as a tv draw, but they would have sent at least 15000 down to Charlotte, judging by the 10,000 that they sent 3000 miles away to Arizona. Charlotte would have been a much closer bowl to get to. I know their fan base was excited over their first bowl, but just imagine if people in the NY/NJ area started to really get excited about rutgers.

I know you've had an axe to grind with us from the get go, but to be fair, ours was the only non-holiday game to be played at 11 am. I wouldn't have expected a gigantic TV audience unless it was Notre Dame in that game.

It's noteworthy that only 6 non-BCS games outdrew the Meineke bowl in terms of attendance.

USF doesnt have the name recognition to attract viewers specially at 11AM. By the way you do realize that the previous year BC-NC had a 1.8 rating. Because of the date and time Meineke Bowl doesnt get high ratings in past four years the best ratings they got was 2.2
