WKU Rumors swirling around BG
The hype has started and it is much different this time. when the Cusa invite came last time it was real sudden like. now there is just a steady stream of info coming out of different mouths in the admin.

The thought is BE completes all TV paperwork and then brings in Tulsa, we are sitting on the stoop and will go in when tulsa opens the door to leave.

I have no source other than just chatter, but i feel more confident this time. Football attendance could sky-rocket this year with winning, BP, and a looming cusa schedule...

anyway, word is coaches have been told to stop scheduling CUSA teams in ooc in preparation for the move.

Would be a good addition. Natural rival with MTSU and good athletic department. 04-cheers

do you feel that UTSA would/ wants to go to the belt? if you go to the belt, NMST could be added as well. I would like to see utsa stay and the aggies eventually get into cusa. I love what their basketball brand brings. think about the possibilities: WKU, UTEP, NMST, MT, UAB, CHAR, ODU...Memphis might just be regretting their move before long...

WKU Rumors swirling around BG
Georgia Southern and Appalachian State are practically shoo-ins at this point. Can the Sun Belt land JMU as the replacement for WKU?

West
UTA (non-fb)/Tex St
Louisiana/ULM
Ark St/UALR (non-fb)

East
GA St/GA Southern
App St/James Madison
USA/Troy

The CAA takes Davidson for everything but football and Monmouth for football only from the Big South. The SoCon takes Mercer and ETSU who start scholarship programs, and non-football member Jacksonville. Kennesaw State joins the Big South for football only.

The Atlantic Sun adds NJIT, North Alabama, and Bellarmine to keep afloat at 7 Division I members with 3 more transitioning from Division II.

WKU a team on the move. Could be one of the contenders in CUSA if Petrino stays a few years.

The more I think about it James Madison does sound like a good replacement for WKU because they would fit comfortably within the SBC East

SBC East: JMU, ASU, Georgia St, Georgia Southern, Troy, USA
SBC West: ULL, ULM, UALR, Arkansas St, UTA, Texas State

Considering that time is running out on James Madison's chances at moving up to FBS it may make a lot of sense for them to accept the SBC and just be done with it. The CAA is going to fall apart and who wants to join the successor FCS conference?

I have a hard time seeing how the FB divisions are going to work for CUSA.

CUSA East: WKU, MTSU, Marshall, Charlotte, Old Dominion, FIU, FAU

That is a pretty nice East division on paper. A few schools in the CUSA West are getting screwed over though...

CUSA West: UTEP, UTSA, Rice, UNT, La Tech, So Miss, UAB

UAB is definitely getting the shaft here. I guess it doesn't matter though because they have their football program operating at such a low level right now. So Miss not as much and LaTech definitely not.

With this lineup, I'm not very pleased that Marshall has ZERO of its old conference mates in their division. I'd love to find a way to keep UAB East, if for no other reason.

That won't happen unless CUSA is talking about going to 16 adding 2 more schools in the West like A-State and Louisiana. Then UAB is got to go East where they would be a nice fit with most of those schools.

How is UAB getting screwed over? Because they don't have a bunch of startup programs to pad their win total with? The east is horrendous for the time being until those schools get up to speed. There will be several better FCS conferences.

Geographically I would rather be in the East but at least we'll still be with USM.

I can see North Alabama having football in the OVC eventually. On the CAA front, I'm surprised that the Patriot hasn't taken William & Mary and the A10 hasn't taken Drexel. Those just seem like natural fits to me. I'm also surprised that the CAA hasn't poached the SoCon yet.
