Yeah. "Metro" sucks.

I really don't care what the name will be, unless it changes to something crappy, as GA suggests. Although, I don't see "Metro" as awful, but it's just me.
The name "Big East" has been beaten down by the pundits from the football end. Seems more of a curse than an asset. However, on the basketball side, it's a clear asset.
Basically, the name is worth its weight in gold to the C-7, and not much to us. Just change the name to something good.

If FOX is pushing hard for early exit & BE name for C-7, maybe a BE football champ game for a lot of TV $$ on FOX could be added to deal.

But for a 17yo who knows the Big East brand, whether it truly is the historical big east or just a borrowed name, i think its a big deal. Its an ego bump for the kids to say they playing in the Big East, to have the logo on the jersey. From everything i've read, just having that selling point improved ECU's recruiting in the closing months. I say keep it. People and ESPiN will whine about it for a few months but by next signing day it will be a mute point. And our recruiting classes, WHICH IS HOW WE WIN ON THE FIELD, won't take a hit. Cant say that when you tell a 3-4 star kid he'll be wearing the Big Atlantic logo on his jersey.
DING! DING! DING! We have a winner.

The temptation for a quick cash grab is too much for the "remaining 3" to resist, especially when 2 of the 3 hope they are leaving soon anyway. I feared this possibility two months ago. Fox, ESPN and the C-7 have used the principles of greed and divide and conquer masterfully.
My last remaining hope is that the new name will not be something suck-assed like "Metro" or "Big America". "EAC" hac the tone of diginity and collegiate tradition that is needed.
It won't really matter what the new name is. It will be new and will have zero cache with the recruits.

Actually it spells M-E-T-R-O very clearly.
