I GUARANTEE you that you're 100% wrong with this statement.

This disheartens me. All for Navy? I come from a Navy family but I'd much rather see Navy go, Tulsa and USM come in, and the A12 move forward with an all-sports league. I have personally grown very tired of the hybrid. But, like a good soldier/fan...I will support whatever happens.

They need to say screw the money and look at the long term interest of the league. It needs to be 12 all-sports and 2 football-onlies. They should add Tulsa as #11, since that train seems to have left the station, and Old Dominion as #12 so ECU gets a travel partner and Southeast Virginia is opened up for recruiting. UMass can be added as a football-only once Navy joins but I wouldn't add them until it is impossible for Navy to back out.

It would take a few years, but an alternative to a football-only UMass would be Missouri State - mandate some games in other sports, especially in basketball. Tulsa and Memphis get a nearby opponent, and if the Bears hold to historical form, the RPI gets a nice boost.

Wichita State makes sense in that spot.

Agreed. The only drawback is WSU wouldn't be ready by 2015 when Navy is supposed to come in board. A program really needs that "gray shirt" year to get enough players on the roster to start a transition to FBS.

The Bears certainly had a disappointing season on the hardwood this year. The Shockers should make another deep run into the tournament. WSU also helps with baseball.

Tulsa has a long history with Wichita St. - I'd love for that to continue!

What if Tulsa replaced Creighton as a non-FB member of the MVC?

Would an arrangement like that make a lot more sense for Tulsa's basketball program? The MVC I believe would permit a school to play FBS as it has schools like Drake that play non-scholarship FCS. Its not like the CAA where its all sports or nothing.

I think there would be some mixed feeling about it - the MVC has some great basketball and Tulsa thrived while playing in the MVC, but I'm not sure that splitting up our Football and olypmic sports would be in our best interest.

The CAA does not require "all sports or nothing." They actually have a football conference and an Olympic sports conference.

If a full member of the CAA has football don't they have to play in FB in the conference? That provision would hurt the chances of Davidson in the CAA because they are comfortable in the non-scholarship pioneer league.

That is also why JMU and Delaware haven't been able to move to the MAC FB only from what I understand because the CAA does not allow its full members to split its football and basketball membership up. If Delaware or JMU could get into the A10 that would no longer be a problem.
