So the CBS & ESPN is only for 1st tier
The ESPN deal IS the secondary TV Rights deal.
Then I want to be in a lot of 2ndary games, 1st tier sounds like more purgatory where they cast us off to ch. 613. At least NBCS moved up from 600s to 220.

So the A12 and MWC deals are basically a wash, if I am reading correctly. MWC is 18 mil for CBS and ESPN. A12 is 22 mil for ESPN and CBS. Not much of a difference. What am I missing.

That is what I believe as well..
CBS: 800K
ESPN: 700k
Total 1.5 million per school. This should be correct if CBS was paying out 800k before.

A12 20-23 mill for 11.5 teams
MWC 18 mill for 11.5 teams
difference is we were never "rich" and BE used to be, now they're in the poor house w/ us. Not that it will financially hurt any one of us.

Nothing we have 2 regional best of the rest conf that should fight it out to play w/ the big boys at the end of each year and networks don't give 2 sh*ts about either of us.

Believe the latest from McMurphy, etc. had A12 at 20M for ESPN and 2M for CBS, total 22M. Agree with you about being in the poor house now. If it weren't for the 25M USF is about to pocket in the BE breakup deal, they'd be making less than they were before.

Dan Wolken @DanWolken
My theory on all this still stands: By forcing breakup of Big East, TV could get three entities (MWC, Big East, Conference TBA) on the cheap

Yeah that's a pretty chunk the 3 of you are gonna claim. While we had to pay 900K to leave the WAC aka Great West.

No the difference is your now poor and your the Boise State and some other guys conference. And I can see Memphis getting better, same with Houston, etc with their investments in facilities.
I see Boise getting worse not better in this new system.

That's alright, we can all try to be the Butler, GMU, VCU of football now and most will root for us vs. the big boy in the BCS Bowl

If there are 6 ESPN conference games on Saturday on ESPN- that will cost the conference 6 million dollars. The base distro will be lucky to be 10 million for 12 teams- or not even 1 million dollars per school.

That would be great we can win a MWC title if they're going to suck and the Boise bonus isn't a Boise bonus, its the same offer to all schools everyone just assumes Boise will forever get them. So if they start to suck we can get them.

Because ESPN will be broadcasting all of Boise State's home games, which means that about $3-3.5 million (6-7 games annually) a year comes off that number and goes to Boise State for their national TV bonus. Then reduce another $2-2.5 million to be paid out to the (4-5) teams playing Boise State on national TV.
The report is 20 games, so you'll have another $10 million reduced to pay out the $500,000 bonus to teams on TV. That leaves about $3-5 million total to be divided by 12 teams, or about $300,000 per team. Pay out the $500,000-$1 million for the TV bonuses, and each team will net about $800,000 - $1.3 million per team, with Boise State earning about $3.5-4 million
I"m not saying the A/XII deal is any better, except that it includes 65 football games/150 basketball games . . . so we'll see. But I would much rather have UH in the A/XII than the MWC unless the money was substantially more, which is what a lot of people thought after the A/XII deal was announced. . .

we won't have many sat. games on espn, plus ESPNU doesn't count for the bonus. We'd be lucky to get 2 or 3.

Another perspective, add the value of the the TV deals for the MW (1.5 mil), BE (3.5 mil) and A12 (1.8 mil) up.
That total is 6.8 million which is about what the estimates were for the old BE with the Catholic schools, Boise State and Rutgers/Louisville still on board.
Factor in that money is going to be shared by twice as many schools and the networks are probably paying out double.

I think you'll have quite a few Saturday 10 or 10:30 games on ESPN- and maybe 1-2 Hawaii games even.
