Were all of us not in the Big East for the same amount of time, and did Louisville and Rutgers not achieve as much (arguably more) for the conference than the other three? Yes, Louisville and Rutgers are leaving (and it couldn't happen soon enough) but aren't all the football schools technically leaving the Big East? Should we all not be able to share in its demise? Louisville earned more NCAA Tournament credits and won the only BCS games of anybody joining the America 12, why don't we deserve to keep the money from that?

It's not our fault that the Big East fell apart the way it did but we're being penalized for wanting to improve our status athletically and academically. Why should be have to pay for that?

Cinci, USF, and UConn did not leave a conference. L'Ville and Rutgers did.

I've understood We play Football for 2013/2014 season but were told We had to remain also for 2013/2014 Basketball which made NO Sense as ND and the C7 leave as soon as Basketball finished in a few weeks even though all other sports in Big East/A12/Metro remain for everyone involved.

You can't be split between 2 FBS football conferences.

I just went back and re read RUJohnny99's post and I guess He meant No longer "a Big East member" in name only. Got it!

Exactly. The Big East by-laws do not mention "or successor conference". On 7/1, when the CYOs take the name & go away, the Big East By-laws are no longer applicable for the 3 football schools. You have 7 Big East schools using the name & 3 former Big East schools trying to shake down 5 or 6 former/prospective members (RU, UL, ND, Boise, SDSU, TCU).

UConn, Cinn, & USF were left holding a bag of $100 MM in accounts receivables without the ability to collect them. They're better off selling that bag of IOUs to the MWC in exchange for membership.

Legally speaking- The Big East and the A12 are the SAME conference. What you are saying would be more applicable quite frankly to a c7 school- that's considered a successor conference. I would say the name from a legal standpoint is meaningless.

Nice try though but The C7 are original members of Big East. Football was added later as well as UC, USF

Maybe that's $800,000 each for UConn, Cincinnati, and USF, $99,000 for the lawyers and consultants, and $1,000 to be divided among the incoming football schools. 05-stirthepot

If that is their initial demand, I don't expect negotiations to drag out for too very long.
