Tournament on Madison Square Garden
USA Today had an article suggesting Big East (C7) move the tournament to Chicago because Chicago is close to the center of all 12 schools than NYC. I think ACC should negotiate with MSG and Big East (C7) to share MSG in March.

Odd years:

ACC (Greensboro)
Big East C7 (NYC)

Even years:

ACC (NYC)
Big East C7 (Chicago)

Is this a good idea?

I actually like that rotation a lot. Here's hoping it gets done.

Works for me. But what makes sense rarely happens in sports.

Cheers,

Nothing is happening until the ACC either lets the current contracts play out or they renegotiate. Ultimately I feel it needs to be rotated between NC and MSG.

We might try MSG once every 5-7 years.
Greensboro is mid-way between Boston and Miami.

But teams like Miami and Duke like to play in NYC. It is good for recruiting.

Playing the tournament in Greensboro hasn't hurt Dook's recruiting to date. And Miami isn't playing too poorly without playing a tournament game in MSG.

Rotate football championship game between Florida and North Carolina. That should keep the southern schools happy.

Conferences and venues like multi-year runs. 3-years seems to be the minimum. I'm guessing MSG would want a 10-year deal for an every other year arrangement.

Edit: stupid spell check.

I would love it and I think anyone who's been to the Big East tournament would love it because it's one of the best atmosphere's I've ever seen in college basketball but I understand it's a tough sell to the teams in North Carolina.

Either way, it will be fun to have one last hurrah this year at the Garden.

I meant UNC and Duke (and WF and NCSU to a lesser extent)
I don't see them being jazzed about losing home court in bball, no matter how much FB they get.

I think MSG would love to host ACC tournament but Big East (C7) holds the key. Maybe if we schedule some regular matchups with C7, they would agree to rotate C7 tournament between Chicago and NYC then we can share MSG.

I like the idea of having the ACC Championship football game in Charlotte, NC. Rotate the basketball tournament between MSG, North Carolina & Atlanta.

The problem is MSG wants a 10 year deal. I haven't heard it mention any where that they will take less than that. It depends on how much hardball MSG wants to play and how flexible the ACC is willing to be. I think we're going to miss out on MSG.

I would rather have basketball in NC then the football since Tobacco Road is left out of the football game most years...
