UCFSports.com: CUSA Champ UCF may not go to Liberty Bowl
Big East fans, with their AQ status, gave CUSA fans a hard time over that one. Obviously, SEC, using the power forced into the Liberty Bowl contract which Liberty Bowl officials were unable to fend off, retained the power to veto a NonAQ CUSA Champ for an AQ Big East team.
Obviously, the Liberty Bowl is going to be pushed down, matching two NonAQ conferences, most likely Nbe/A12 and CUSA. SEC's reluctance to play a NonAQ conference, along with the new bowl arrangement announced by B1G, SEC, ACC, and B12, have now undercut the Liberty Bowl.
Undoubtedly, too, Nbe/A12 will resist a CUSA opponent but Boise State is likely to be in a BCS bowl and second ranked MWC team would probably prefer to play in Vegas Bowl against PAC, and it is a closer game to drive to. That would put the Nbe/A12 Champ against MWC #3 and the MWC would bring few fans, bad for hotels. And, given the poor travel record of some Nbe/A12 teams, the Liberty Bowl will need help from CUSA to help fill the stadium.

The CUSA champ will be in Dallas. The Liberty Bowl wont be a part of the CUSA Bowl slate after 2013. Probably nBE #1 vs upper/mid ACC or SEC pick. The Bowl will likley be propped up by Fed Ex so its payout allows such a team to be lured to Memphis. If Fed Ex doesnt prop up the bowl, then nBE would face a lower SEC/ACC pick or its also possible the nBE is bumped completely out of the picture.

I don't see any MWC teams traveling east of Texas for any bowl unless Air Force goes to the military Bowl
ACC will lose Sun Bowl to Big 12/BIG rotation as well and will pick up an Eastern bowl from A12
BYU might be available

When will you NBE folks realize that the SEC isn't playing in ANY bowl game against ANY team NOT in a Power 5 conference. Slive has let that be known. The other conferences are begining to follow suit.

Doesnt matter. My point remains. We wont be playing CUSA in the #1 BE Bowl. If we do play another G5 conference it will be the MW. I guess CUSA will face off against the Sunbelt or MAC champ (unless they want to keep having thier champs play one another). I do think some lower end nBE bowls will be against CUSA schools. Frankly, the bottom bowls will all be pretty much the same crap for everyone.
I still think we will play a power conference team in the #1 BE bowl. It may end up being a Pac-12 team since they seem to be the odd conference out in the power conference bowl sharing agreement being discussed by the Big10, Big-12, ACC, and SEC.
