Not really surprised Charlotte players started something but the opposing player gets called for a T...

charlotte player--->03-nutkick<---richmond player.... technical on richmond.... If my memory serves me right, didn't the same thing happen with tucker and bowden, tucker elbowed him and bowden got ejected

Yup and Charlotte fans defended the Charlotte player in that instance too

Is that the play that Bowden was throwing punches?

RE: Pretty strange way to win a game, Charlotte
The 3 FT's awarded for that half court "shot" by Henry was a bad call.

The initial technical was not.

Richmond made 4 FG's in the second half. Four. Let that sink in. They made 4 FG's in the second half, but they were still in the game...and leading before all this went down. We made 15 FG's in the 2nd half.

Richmond took 26 free throws in the 2nd half. Before all the **** that happened at the end of the game, Charlotte had something like 14 more fouls called. 4 of our players fouled out.

Richmond is a jumpshooting team. We are a pound it inside team. There is no way a fairly called game ends up with a jumpshooting team getting half as many fouls called on them as a team that scores almost all of its points in the paint.

I don't give a **** if even the technical was a bad call because there were SEVERAL horrible foul calls against Charlotte throughout the game. Karma.

Tucker DID start it and Bowden finished it.

What the saying? Don't start something you can't finish?

I don't know what they consider finishing it it NC, but that isn't what we consider finishing it in El Paso

Richmond has no one to blame but themselves. First the tech on Williams, which the conference coordinator of officials has deemed the correct call. Even after that UR still had a chance but then Mooney lost his cool. No coach should put his team in that position. Besides, those techs on Mooney occurred after Charlotte had the lead. So, Mooney prevented his team from having a chance to tie the game.

An elbow will do that sometimes. That tech has been called legit by league officials so let it go. The other two techs can be debated, but the Niners already had the lead by that time so the rest is just added drama. UR could have had a chance to win after Charlotte took the lead but their coach took that chance away.

My .2 cents: there's no wrong way to squash a spider. Congrats Niners! Good luck the rest of the tournament

Well they possibly didn't since Henry was awarded 3 FT's. If he hit all three it would have put us up 4. That's why the Richmond coach went berserk.

That was indeed a bad call. It should have been 2 FT's. I've never seen 3 FT's awarded for a heave like that.

Of course the NCAA will back their guys. Why in the world wouldn't they side with them right before we head into the tourney?

Its kind of hard to let it go when the national media is blowing up over it.

RE: Pretty strange way to win a game, Charlotte
After watching the replay, I can appreciate that different folks might have different opinions, but it appears to me that the Spiders have no one to blame but themselves.

From what I saw and from what I now understand of the rule, the dead ball technical was a no brainer call by the ref. As for the three point foul, the Charlotte player saw the foul coming, put up the shot and got the call - - smart play on his part. He was going to get two foul shots anyway, and there was no guarantee that he would make three.

The Richmond coach then lost his cool and picked up the T's as was appropriate and the game went totally out of reach - - all due to loss of control by one Richmond player and the Richmond coach. So did the Refs dictate the outcome of this game? No, Richmond did.

Strange? Yes

Unbelieveable ending? Yes

Wrong calls? No

Do I have a dog in this hunt? Nope

Good luck Niners!

04-cheers
