UTEP's young team had a schedule that included:
Oregon
UNLV
Colorado St
Arizona
Oklahoma
Memphis
NMSU
All were in the NCAA tourney. And we were still 18-14. Floyd said that we could easily have scheduled light to win 22 games.
Your "Pathetic" comment may apply to some of the league... But not the league as a whole.
BTW- all but one of the league's teams who entered post-season play, are still alive.
We were 2-6 in those games, but in all but one.
Oregon -- Win
UNLV -- Loss by 2, missed 3 at the buzzer
Colorado St -- Loss by 4
Arizona -- Loss by 21
Oklahoma -- Loss by 7
Memphis -- Loss by 2, missed 3 at the buzzer
NMSU -- Win
NMSU -- Loss by 4, up by double digits with about 5 minutes left
If we just flipped a couple of those games, we'd still be playing now. And, we're going to need to go 6-2 in these type games next year.

Couple that with a top 20 recruiting class according to Rivals, I like the future of UTEP basketball.

RE: The MWC and New Mexico are a frieken joke! Talk about overrated
Did the BE manipulate the RPI? They went 3-5 in the 1st round despite better seeding than MWC. And one of those 3 wins was a fluke win by one their teams seeded #3.
This thread is everything that is wrong with nonBCS fans. The BCS has succesfully managed to pit us against each other until we dislike each other and feel the only way we can make ourselves better is to drag other nonBCS teams/leagues down.
I'm glad the MWC got 5 teams in. Good for them. Good for the A10. And I am happy the A10 has been able to take advantage of it when the MWC wasn't.
As to "manipulating" the RPI, there are many more angles to it than what you guys have discussed. Mid-pack BCS leagues schools have been doing it for decades. Play #hitty OOC schedules, all at home, and build up a lot of wins. Then plod through conference at around .500, take advantage of 6 games against the 3 truly good teams in the league, win maybe one or two of them, and slide in to tourney.
So I don't want to hear about nonBCS teams manipulating anything. Again, lets point our hatred where it belongs.
