He shot a three pointer at the end of the game. He shouldn't have. It was in poor taste. He's a young college guy. Apparently, he's the first young college guy to get caught up in the moment and make a poor decision.
The game isn't marred forever, he won't be branded for life, and to the USM fan who wished injury on him; you're a wonderful f'ing human to wish something like that.

I can't recall that happening in 29 previous victories this season. There have been plenty of opportunities and it's been pretty clear that it's not common practice.

That, plus the fact that most agree that poor judgement was used should be enough to end the discussion.

Everyone has stated their opinion; continued discussion is just twisting a knife that's long over due for removal.

We were decent. My first two years we were really good. Then we got hit with NCAA probation for major infractions. Football and Basketball but mainly Football.

AB shouldn't have taken the shot. I would guess he would admit that himself. He's not a thug. He hasn't played in 2 months and probably got caught up in being in the game at all. Not an excuse, just a possible reason.

That fact that you have to reinforce the fact that he's not a thug is simply a reflection of what's wrong in America and how we view black athletes. Its seems that any slip up that we have the "he's a thug train" is always right on time.

Now back to the shot......how about guarding the guy? You're to play to the final whistle or final horn so was he supposed to quit playing because his opponent did? Also didn't USM fire off a 3 after that? So was only USM supposed to be still plaing and Memphis was supposed to not play because they were ahead? You play to the last whistle period point blank, that's the way you're taught by your coaches.

"That's the way you're taught by your coaches." That's funny, maybe they do things differently at Alabama State, but I've never seen a 9 point lead with less then ten seconds remaining not dribbled out, at least not when the team with the lead has the ball anyway.

If you think the Southern Miss players shot for any reason other than they were pissed that Memphis had just drained a totally unnecessary three, I don't know what to tell you. The Southern Miss players shouldn't have done it, but not for the same reason. They should have just left it, Barton probably got a talking to from at least one of his coaches, USM making that shot would have accomplished nothing aside from getting it back to single digits.
