Yep. 7 of 12in nBE are very recent CUSA. 3 others were CUSA several years ago. It will be like old home week for you guys.
CUSA will be 5 of 14 recently Sun Belt, 5 holdovers, 2 from the defunct WAC and 1 from FCS and one totally new program. Wow.
Basically, if Tulsa is #12, it would be 7/12 of C-TBD is former CUSA
If WKU is added after, then 9/14 of CUSA will be former Sun Belt/WAC/FCS.
And if you're going to count Cincy, USF, etc. for CUSA status from long ago, then you're going to have to count UTEP and Rice as WAC, and WKU as FCS. But we know it wouldn't be fair to do this, because each of those programs have since built their brands from those former affiliations since all of those years ago, right?

Those two schools don't play football.

Out of the remaining schools available Tulsa brings winning football and a pretty decent market, somewhere in the 50's I believe. Plus they are located close to Memphis, Tulane, SMU and Houston. Makes sense. If the nBE lose another team or 2 I could see USM and maybe UMass or Charlotte or ODU being next in line.

I thought CUSA should have added WKU over some of the earlier picks but this is hardly an even trade. WKU just started playing FBS level Football in 2009. They have a ton of potential and were a Div1AA powerhouse. Tulsa has two Top 25 finishes in the last 3yrs and 12 Top 25 finishes overall. Tulsa has been to 8 Bowl games in the last 10yrs including winning the Liberty Bowl twice. WKU has been to one Bowl game. Like I said, I think WKU is a very solid add to CUSA and will compete in the league right away. I am happy to see Tulsa join ECU and other CUSA schools and only wish Southern Miss was coming with them.

True but as of right now WKU has one of the best coaches in college football. If he stays there for 3 years at least they'll be a hell of a football program.

All 3!
That's my thought too. 16 with 2 more compact 8 team divisions and brings 3 good FB teams and good WKU basketball.
By going to 16 you essentially kill off the Sun Belt. Taking the 7 best programs out of the Belt in two years would kill it. They would have to get a waiver from the NCAA just like the WAC had to do. But would the NCAA grant that waiver again or force the remaining Sun Belt members into indy status?
This would also essentially end the upward movement of FCS schools being that they would not have any league to go to. It would increase CUSA BCS share by reducing the total conferences.
It would also tighten the East and West divisions creating better rivalries and cheaper travel. But, there are some schools on the western side of CUSA that do not want to have another school from Louisiana in the conference because they are terrified of competition.

True but as of right now WKU has one of the most erratic coaches in college football. If he stays there for 3 years at least they'll have a lot of knocked up volleyball players, and his wife will cut his dork off with a steak knife.

All 3!
The prospect of a 16 team league scares me. Too many chances to split and reform later on.
Of course, I really don't care what ASU does. I don't see any chance we don't have a conference home, so if our administration says that SBC is the right call, I'll happily stay. Its not that I don't appreciate our rivalries with MTSU and WKU, but I am pretty confident we would dominate the SBC for a few years with move ups, which might be better for our program in the long run.

Well the only way that happens is of he has continued success which will be great for WKU & potentially CUSA.

IF Tulsa leaves, and there is no certainty of that, I think Texas State will be the next school added.

I agree - there is no certainty that Tulsa moves - it's far from an easy choice. I don't agree that TSU is next in line - I think it'll be WKU.
