Can someone tell me when Damian Lilliard won the NBA Rookie of the Year award for this season? I can't seem to find it.

Top 70 is pretty dang solid. Hey and I actually think Feb/March wins and how you finish are valuable to the conversation and that's not weighted at all by RPI how we finished, but RPI is still the best tool there is to actually compare teams which is what was being done on a thread talking about favorites.

It's likely going to happen. He's the clear frontrunner.

Marshall will be back next year with a Senior DeAndre Kane and a very skilled ball handling PG in Kareem Canty

We don't really have a true center though so that should be fun.

ECU has good coaching now and ask USM football how can a team go from 12-2 to 0-12.....poor coaching. ECU is a well coached team with Coach Lebo and staff plus $18 million dollar in facilities additions and improvements......no way for Pirates but up:)

I love how Warren Nolan keeps looking at the RPI rolling into post season, but if you click on a team to look at their RPI by week it stops at the last week of the regular season and doesn't include post season. Odd twist.

He's going to blow out his knee tonight, and it's going to be your fault.

If ECU had really good coaching you would have been in the NIT. Instead you played two bums ahead of Akeem Richmond and finished the regular season barely over .500.

I think even SJ will back me up on this one.

If UTEP can find a point guard, they should be the favorite considering they return the bulk of their roster. If the schedule rotation remains the same, they would get UAB, ECU, and USM all on their home court which would be the toughest in C-USA when you consider the attendance and elevation difference between other C-USA schools. With the conference tournament there, they probably win the auto-bid as well.

I keep hearing about the transfers we've got sitting out this season, and if they live up to the hype we'll be pretty good, but until I see us play a couple of games, I'm going to temper my expectations. We're losing 3 of our top 6 in minutes played including our leading scorer and leading rebounder. Getting Craig back will help some, but there are big shoes to fill.

16 team round robin schedule next year. Play every other team once and then one team twice for a total of 16 conference games. The home & away rotations will probably be way different than last year.

I absolutely was disgusted with the rotations the first 20 games. That said is hard for anyone to deny that a #67 final RPI like we will have, and a win over a 30 win team on the road in front of 11k people to take down a 32 team win or go home tournament of any kind still isn't tremendous progress.

I think we could have won more games this season, but still the way we were playing at the END of the season I got no complaints. Lebo has STILL made major strides with our program any way you want to measure it. He eventually got his rotations fixed, and his teams have always got better here at the end of the year which is a trend I value.

As far as the CIT, the way our fans came out to the games and the momentum and exposure that was built with the 3 ESPN top 10 plays in 8 days, Selling out the Semi Finals, National TV final etc, going 5-0 in the CIT did more than going 0-1 in the NIT could have ever done for our program.

Why do you think you wouldn't have been successful in the NIT?

We may have been successful the level we played these last few games at, but I'm not upset the way it worked out. The CIT ended up being a pretty perfect tournament for ECU. I think building momentum at home and getting 4 more home crowds that grew as we won, was more important to our program, and it was a fun ride that engaged a ton of fans that weren't paying attention before and might not have had we went on the road in the NIT and had just won one game or been bounced early.

I hope ECU is decent next year, for the good of the league. But, let's be honest here, you can't take anything from the CIT and project that into the next CUSA season. ECU will play real teams in CUSA, or at least comparable teams, and not CIT teams.

Not unless you moved your basketball to the A SUN next year.

Real teams like

-Weber State that had 11k fans in the stands when we beat them last night, that just put an NBA Rookie of the Year in the league? A real team that was .........30-6.......? Who in CUSA can even get 11k fans like Weber, hell they draw more per game than everyone in CUSA but UTEP.

-How about Evansville who we beat by 23 points that was 2-0 over final 4 Wichita State? Real team?

-How about Loyola who won 23 games and returned 4 starters from an NCAA team last year and were top 100 RPI?

We beat teams that were as good as multiple NIT teams and even the bottom seed NCAA teams. That's a fact. There were other quality team in the tourny to. You take down any tourny with 30 teams that finished with 18+ wins and you have accomplished something

Spin it anyway you like, there was a reason all those teams you listed were in the CIT.

Look, congrats on the win. I hope it brings more folks to ECU hoops. But, let's not get carried away and try to extrapolate anything from the CIT to next season.

You clearly didn't see the high level we were playing at these last few games, especially these last two. There is plenty of positives you can "extrapolate" on base on our performance this late in the year with a ton of returners for next year. We finished 9-2 from mid Feburary until April.

There is plenty you can extrapolate with the buzz around our fanbase it created as well and better season ticket sales that will be generated, or the national exposure with 3 top 10 highlights from the CIT on ESPN or the nationally televised game on CBS sports.

There was very little difference in the bottom half NIT teams, and the top seeds in the CBI or CIT to start with, especially with the NIT giving auto bids and cutting their field. There are about 15+ teams every year that would have been in the NIT 6 years ago that are no longer there and that's why these tournaments exsist.
