Latest UCF Developments I (4/3/13)
This isn't about a particular topic, per sé, but it's really just a way to sound off on all of the latest news that has happened to UCF. I'm going to throw a few topics out there and you can talk about those, or you can introduce your own and I'll add them to the list. Every once and a while, I'll start up a new thread under the same name, but the next numeral up so that this can be an ongoing thing. I want to try to keep this board alive - it's been slowing down significantly as of late - and I hope that this will be a way of doing that.

So here are a couple of major things that have happened as of late:
-----------

UCF football introduced new uniforms - they're apparently the first to use Nike's new "Beast" template and the set has black pants, a first under George O'Leary. Check out the UCF football Web site for CG mock-ups of the uniforms (mock-ups that have been likened to "The Sims" by at least one Web site).

UCF released the plans for the Phase II expansion to "The Berg", UCF's baseball facility. It will be a six story-tall structure that will be located behind the home plate area (where the current press box is) that will house press boxes and 300 "premium" seats where alcohol and food is brought to ticket holders. You can see the plans on the UCF baseball team's Web site.

AD Todd Stansbury also discussed plans to construct a tiki bar on the east side of Bright House Networks Stadium (the side opposite of Roth Tower) in order to give the stadium a little more flavor and something for cameras to look at when TV coverage returns from commercial breaks. Search for UCF tiki bar and you should find it.

UCF football spring practice is underway; the Black & Gold spring game is on April 13 at BHNS starting at 2 p.m. Students get in free and general admission tickets are now on sale at the UCF Athletics Web site.

Conference TBA is now the American Athletic Conference - the American or the AAC for short.

Staying on the AAC track, ECU was "upgraded" to an all-sports member of the AAC (they were previously football-only). In addition, Tulsa accepted an invitation to the AAC as a future member of the conference. Tulsa will jump from C-USA alongside ECU and Tulane on July 1, 2014. With the addition of Tulsa, provided there aren't any further defections prior to 2015, the AAC will have 12 football-playing schools for the 2015 season and beyond and will be able to hold a conference championship.
-----------

That's about all I could think of. We had a busy couple of months to start off 2013 - it's a good sign that we are moving toward getting better facilities and making the school better as a whole.

But, did I miss anything that's related to UCF sports? Or do you want to talk about anything else UCF that's not related to sports? Fire away and I'll add them to the list (crediting you, of course).

Charge On!
