Everything's been roses for ACC-bound Louisville after getting spurned by Big 12
Front page of Yahoo article on Louisville and their Big 12 snub and how their athletics are on top of the NCAA world.

Being Yahoo, this link may move after a couple of days.

There are those 2 words again: buyer's remorse (referring to the Big 12's selection of WVU over UL).

The ACC obviously got a top athletic program - not just in football and basketball either.

As a Pitt fan I have become quite envious of the Cardinal program.

Big East school
Urban Campus

They have figured out a way to get it done. This has been a hot topic within the Pitt message boards lately...

Louisville's athletic department brings in over $30 million a year in revenue over Pitt's, and they have no pro-sports competition.

The situations are very different.

Good point... so considering the fact that Pitt football is at best the 5th most popular sport in town maybe our AD should have realized that a 68K stadium was too big for the 5 the most popular team in town? The Steelers are adding more seats too right?

Hey GaTech swagger.... where are ya? How would tech faithful feel about your home Field being the GA Dome? In Pittsburgh we are told that is the best atmosphere out there and if we don't like it we are stupid...

Was any Pitt fan happy with the move to Heinz field? I know I wasn't and thought it was a huge mistake from the beginning.

One of the more underrated moves by Jurich and UofL was in purchasing a local sports talk radio station. It runs a few local shows and uses Fox sports radio when those aren't running. While many might argue how pro-UofL it is or isn't, the real advantage it has given Louisville is that it has help get the word out on what is going on at the school.

It has served to provide exposure and attention to areas of the UofL athletic dept that previously the greater public didn't care about. The more people have become aware of what is going on the more they have become interested in it. The more interested they have become in it the more investment they have made to it.

WHAS in Louisville was the flag ship station until UK paid WHAS one million dollars to give the wildcats priority on the station. Since UofL had a contract with WHAS for priority broadcasts, Jurich agreed to let WHAS take UK's money if they gave UofL it's own station, WKRD.

CLEVER. I see that GoCards.com still lists WHAS as the flagship.

Next move should be acquiring a franchise in Indianapolis, IN and I'd even shoot for Memphis, TN and. Strike while the iron is hot!

Yeah, as long as there aren't conflicting games WHAS still broadcasts all of our games. Basically, UK paid that million dollars to bump us to WKRD (the aforementioned UofL station) maybe 2-3 times a year. I believe at that same time he also bought a satellite radio station. I'm pretty sure we still have that but I don't have satellite radio so I'm not sure what station that is.

i really hope Jurich capitalizes on the positive national publicity surrounding UofL atm... even last years FF & this year's Sugar Bowl didn't provide this much positive publicity (primarily had to do with Ware's gruesome injury)...

uofl does have their games on satrad. it's been years since I turned it on (sirius ended support for mobile units almost a month after I bought it) the but they only have games, no coaches shows, no pre and post game shows, just games. the games sounded like they were being broadcast out of a land line, but you could still hear fine.

chalk me up as one of those fans who favors one station. I don't want anymore games on whas anymore, not because of uk priority, but because that station has deteriorated at such a rate from where it was in the 90s.
