If you're a picky eater who only likes your burger one way, you probably won't like it.

If you're open to trying out some new specialty burgers, you'll probably like it.

Also, beer.

Like I said when I ordered I didn't have a menu but figured it's a burger joint, I know how I like my burger. When I got there I looked at the menu a little and I see that specialty burgers are thier thing. Still I think it'd be smart to have a little lettuce & tomato on hand for the purist and the crinkle cut fries were nothing to write home about.

So the "Greg Brady" seems to be a favorite, any others? I'm not eating an "Elvis".
even mcdonalds doesn't put lettuce and tomato on their burgers unless you ask for it. Just sayin

haha Jack brown's was always crowded on Thursdays and Fridays. I wonder though, if the burgers were good in themselves or were they good because most of the people eating them were drunk or tipsy? JK. Jack Browns is good in my book.

Yeap ..... the first burger I ordered at the H'burg Jack Brown's ... with Lettuce and tomato .... the waitress babe stated " Sir, we do not serve produce here" .... imagine my surprise!!! So, I ordered a double with fried onion and mustard .... it was a juicy two-hander and surprisingly good!!! (yeah ... had to daud my elbows some, but it was worth it.) Fries were great .... like everyone said .... it's a burger joint specializing in unique burgers .... that's all it is. Got to say the meat is EXCELLENT as far as taste ....
Great beer selection ....

I love jack browns but my only complaint is that I wish the place is bigger. It's not for the claustrophobic.

I've had the Elvis Burger. Sounds strange, but it is very good.

They have a place similar down here in Charleston called Sesame... A burger called the Memphis with Peanut Butter and Banana. I've wanted to try it but couldn't muster enough courage to order it.

You realize don't you that Elvis died of a heart attack while sitting on the crapper straining to take a dump? Elvis burger indeed...04-jawdrop

Yes, the King died on his throne! We should all be so lucky.

Probably more from the 87 prescription pills he scarfed down like skittles every day, but I do see your point!

I would compare Jack Brown's to Perfectly Frank's by the Ted. Only difference is that Jack Brown's burgers are awesome.

Never had a single positive experience at Jack Brown's or Billy Jacks. Went with friends (as a sheep following the herd) probably 20 times and was incredibly unimpressed each and every time. I still go downtown but am loyal to the corner now. In the grand scheme of life, Pizza is better than a burger anyway.

p.s. their fried Oreos are good and their fries are not.

RE: OT - Jack Brown's
Neither place is bad, but if I have to eat downtown, it's usually either Jess's chili dogs or Union Station fish and chips. But there are so many better restaurants just outside of downtown that it's rare for me not to travel a little distance:

Traditions
Wood Grill
The Great Wok (as soon as they reopen their dining room
Black Forest German Restaurant
The Village Inn
El Charro (Main Street location)
...and I'm sure there are many others I could list if given the time.

Now that Log Cabin BBQ has a Port Road location, downtown dining will be even more of a rarity.

Didn't realize the family opened one on Port. Well, I know what BBQ we're bringing to Homecoming this year!

Yes, yes, yes. Don't even care that it's not the same quality meat as Log Cabin. It's still good in its own way. And its own way is having lots of Nascar & porcelain pig memorabilia in the dining room while Chamillionaire - Riding Dirty plays on the jukebox. Bless that place.

RE: OT - Jack Brown's
I'm honestly not sure how you can hate on either BJs or JBs. To this day I've never had wings as good as those at Billy Jacks. I go there for the beer and the wings. Same thing with Jack Browns ... their burgers are incredible. I even like their crinkle cut fries.

If you're hating on either place, it's likely because you didn't appreciate the service or being crammed into a small table. That is the style and "character" of places like that. It's all about the food. If you don't think the food is good, then you're crazy.

Is Hanks Smokehouse near Massanutten still around?? It is kind of a drive but that makes it more of an 'occasion'.
