This article just illustrates how important and influential the right Conference Commissioner can be. Swofford heard the concerns of an University in the ACC and took the time to answer questions and dispel rumors. He was proactive and addressed the questions the decision makers had. He led, while others in his position reacted or did nothing at all. Love him or hate him, you've got to hand it to him!04-rock

Local sports radio refers to him as the Ninja Commissioner.

RE: FSU, ACC GOR article
When I saw pictures of Swofford greeting the Clemson football team as they came off the field of the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game against Auburn last Fall... and he was wearing an ORANGE TIE... I knew right then that things were going to be different in the ACC. I just wasn't sure if he acted too late until now (turns out he wasn't too late).

Barron is top-notch. With Swofford at the helm, along with Barron and Louisville's Jurich/Ramsey combo (not to denigrate anybody else's leadership - I'm just not as familiar with them as I am the aforementioned), I think the ACC's financial outlook is bright.

In the end, I bet even those who were sorry to see Maryland go will have to admit their departure was the crisis that created the ACC's greatest historical opportunity. Looks like they're taking advantage of it.

No school will ever owe more to another school than the University of Louisville will owe to the University of Maryland. Our band ought to play "Maryland, My Maryland" at least once during every home football game.

I was hoping there would be some mention of division re-alignment that FSU would have demanded.

Swofford is a great listener. Who said divisional change is off the table . He will socialize it in a stealth discussion with the members president trustees ad and only if their is consensus will it be bought up for approval.

We will be the last to know.

07-coffee3 Looks like you will be stuck with us "inferior schools" for the next decade plus. You gotta settle with playing Miami, Notre Dame, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina. Aww, man.

If Swofford has shown us anything in the past, it's that he won't be playing out the drama of any big change in the public eye. Divisional realignment may or may not be in the offing - if so, it'll only be announced when there's a consensus among all the conference membership. But one thing's for certain, he is listening very intently to the opinions and needs of his university presidents and various boards of trustees.

Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia Tech twice in a 12 year period with decade breaks in between meetings which is a problem. May as well count them as not in the same conference.

If you are saying it looks like FSU is stuck bringing in more tv revenue for the ACC than the ACC disburses to FSU, then yes, it looks like FSU is stuck with inferior schools.

RE: FSU, ACC GOR article
Marge,

I know this is a shock to you, but you must come to grips with reality. The SEC does not want or need FSU, even though we agree that FSU would be a good fit, FSU simply brings nothing to the table for them.

The B1G does not want FSU. Quite frankly, unless it was necessary, FSU does not want the B1G, either. The B1G and FSU are simply not a match.

The Big 12 may want FSU, but FSU (the leadership, not the irrational fans) does not want the Big 12.

The ACC wants FSU. FSU wants the ACC. They already have each other.

Your real whining is more about FSu failing than the ACC failing FSU. FSU had and still has the name so that if they win out in any year, they will be in the NC picture. Period. FSU has failed to beat the ACC teams and win out, thus FSU has not been in the NC picture.

Your whining, yes it is whining since you cannot get over it and you fail to realize that we have no authority over FSU's direction, though we have recommended that you repeat these complaints and whinings to your FSU leadership, makes you appear less than reasonable and really more of a troll of a real football fan. It's time to move on.

Just remember, FSU has a fresh season this fall. If the go undefeated, they will be in consideration for the NC. I like FSU, less than the Orange, but otherwise, I hope FSU does well. I seriously thing Clemson will be doing its part to ensure that FSU is not a part of the NC, I know Syracuse will, too, and let's not forget Miami, they like nothing more than playing the spoiler. I think Wake Forest and NCState have made their positions clear in the recent past.

P.S. Any Psycho analysts on this board want to tackle why JAN chose Marge Schott as his new moniker?
