RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
For best VT season, I have to go with 1999. No offense to those 1918 teams, but when you only have 7 wins and 2 of those have the word "club" in their name, that's not impressive.

1999 Season:
James Madison W 47-0
U A B W 45-28
Clemson W 31-11
at #24 Virginia W 31-7
at Rutgers W 58-20
#16 Syracuse W 62-0
at Pittsburgh W 30-17
at West Virginia W 22-20
#19 Miami (FL) W 43-10
at Temple W 62-7
#22 Boston College W 38-14
#1 Florida State (Sugar Bowl) L 29-46

The Hokies played 5 ranked teams that year and beat 4 of them.

Unfortunately,I well remember that whooping you guys laid on Syracuse
that day. There was a lot of smack talk by the SU players regarding Vick, before the game. SU players were upset that VT players were comparing Vick to McNabb, who had justgone to the NFL, and saying stuff like "we are going to show them that he's no McNabb. Vick ran up and down the field on Syracuse that day. It was horrible, LOL. Vick had spurned Syracuse at the last minute to stay with the home team. To add salt to the open wound, Syracuse was knocked right out of the rankings. Went from #16 to unranked. Only time I can remember a team to drop that far from 1 game.

RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
Louisville's was 2006 (12-1). We played 4 ACC teams that year.

Kentucky W59-28
Temple W62-0
Miami W31-7
Kansas State W24-6
MTSU W44-17
Cincinnati W23-17
Syracuse W28-13
WVU W44-34
Rutgers L25-28
USF W31-8
Pitt W48-24
UConn W48-17
Wake Forest (Orange Bowl) W24-13

We've never had an undefeated season. Before 2006, we had 4 other 1-loss seasons: 1957 (9-1, beating Drake in the Sun Bowl), 1972 (9-1, no bowl), 1990 (10-1-1, beating Alabama in the Fiesta Bowl), and 2004 (11-1, beating Boise in the Liberty Bowl).

RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
Well the unfortunately Krathorpe years sandwhiched between the Petrino and Strong era is probably the worst era of football in Louisville history even more so the the Cooper years. There are several GREAT years though, but to many for me to put down here. So lets just go with the most recent of the Strong era and 2013 Sugar Bowl victory season being the best. Like I mentioned many more, but this one is up to date. Go Cards!!!

RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
ND has eleven national titles, so any of them would do as the best season.

I am very fond of 1966, 1973, 1977 and 1988. Last year was not as good, but not so bad.

Personally, the 2007 Charlie Weis 3-9 fiasco is one of the worst seasons, ever.

It is trumped historically by this season:

1956: 2-8-0

RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
Our worst - See Jeff Bowden offensive coordinator of FSU. We had so many damn 3 and outs I thought I was watching a baseball game on a football field.

Our best - 1993 and 1999. 1999 team went undefeated but the 93 team (only loss was to ND) had a MUCH better defense. Held 8 out of 13 teams played to 10 points or less with 7 of those 8 teams being held to a TD or less including 4 shut outs.

Played 7 ranked teams going 6-1

AP Rankings of teams played on Gameday 1993 -
#17 Clemson
#13 North Carolina
#3 Miami
#15 Virginia
#7 Florida
#2 Nebraska

1999's team SOS doesn't even come close.

RE: WHAT IS YOUR TEAM'S BEST/WORST SEASON
Thanks Mark...My brain scrubbed that 62-0 from what functioning brain cells I have left.

I really started questioning Coach P in 1999. During the 90s he would mix enough great wins to compensate from the 1-2 WTF losses every year to keep fans happy. By 1999 it was apparent he was living on borrowed time to me. The 62-0 loss to VTech on national TV and to follow it up with a loss to 1-10 Rutgers convinced me something was up. Coach P only had one more good season after 1998...(in 2001) and he saw the decline to a firing after a bowl game blowout loss to GTech in Dec 04.

I thought UConn was nuts for hiring him.

Regardless if the 1999 season was more impressive the 1918 squad was the only undefeated season for the "Fighting Gobblers". The reason so many colleges were forced to drop football down to a club sport is because of WWI, and as we all know Virginia Tech always sends a lot of its students to war when our nation calls.

But checkout the 1905 season below:

Sat., Sep 30, 1905 Roanoke College W, 86-0
Fri., Oct 6, 1905 Cumberland (Tenn.) W, 12-0
Sat., Oct 14, 1905 at Army W, 16-6
Sat., Oct 21, 1905 Gallaudet W, 56-0
Sat., Oct 28, 1905 North Carolina W, 35-6
Sat., Nov 4, 1905 at Virginia W, 11-0
Sat., Nov 11, 1905 Washington & Lee W, 15-0
Sat., Nov 18, 1905 South Carolina W, 34-0
Sat., Nov 25, 1905 at Navy L, 6-12
Thu., Nov 30, 1905 VMI W, 34-0
Overall: 9-1 Conference: 0-0

Your '91 team was one of the best 2 loss teams of all-time. Equally great defense. You beat a 10-2 Cuse team 46-14 in the famous rainstorm/fake to run back for TD game.

Beat Michigan in the beginning of the season and lost back to back games to Miami and Florida, the introduction to the Wide rights. What a crazy crazy year that was.

NO, you can't do that! It's not fair to the memory of your school. LOL.

I dunno if I can answer that one yet. Give me a few years of experiencing other fans at Heinz and the Pete, and then I can answer it. This small sample size on this board isn't enough info to give an answer.

The Pitt teams with Tony Dorsett (1970's) and even the ones with Dan Marino (1980's) were better than 2009.
