Rarely go to musicfest...usually head to BBQ and games.

Thanks...

Yes- ZZTop

Yes, you can buy tickets at the official MIM ticket booths. I "think" you have to enter at the north end, though. You can check their web site to be certain. Sometimes there are lines.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be another Mudfest, and a bit chilly. I enjoy being in the Blues Tent alot because: I am old and can sit down, the music is fantastic in there, and if you get something to eat at some point, it's nice to have somewhere to sit. That makes the whole "ordeal" more tolerable.

The mud, the crowds, and the bad food are all worth it for the heavenly music. There IS some good food in the park, and it's really neat to see all the people who come from all over this country and the world just to be here for the music. We take it for granted.

Thanks...yes, the MIM site makes it appear ticketmaster is the only option. but I'll search it some more to see if they will indeed have booths...

Music Fest? Outdoors?

Where I live there's 8 inches of snow and still coming down. The local college's first day of early summer school session classes got cancelled. A summer school snowday? lol

Snow is not what I would want if I was wishing for 8 inches of something.

Alice N Chains put on an awesome show. I've been going o music fest for nearly 20 years, and it was a top 5 performance.

It was ridiculous.04-rock04-rock04-rock04-rock04-rock04-rock04-rock

RE: Okay, it's Music Fest week
My report so far, which was just my attendance today:

Jake Bugg was very good, as I expected. Came out after the show and talked to the fans, took photos and gave autographs. What a cool and talented kid!

Zac Harmon was even better than I thought. Really rocked the Blues Tent. I appreciated his non-political salute to the service of current and ex-military in attendance and his support of the Blues Foundation.

Memphian and BB King Club regular, Will Tucker, blues kid guitar slasher, had the crowd on its feet from the first tune. He is truly a force of nature and put on an amazing show, as always. I appreciated his dedicating a song to SRV and the late, great Corey Osborne.

And Ronnie Baker Brooks and band, fantastic drummer and showman bassist, put on another rocking blues show with several different styles, roots to modern; thanked the crowd several times for coming out in the cold and said he was doing his best to play in the cold.

Also written by Ann as well...

Quote:"I Can't Stand the Rain" is a song originally recorded by Ann Peebles, and written by Peebles, Don Bryant, and Bernard "Bernie" Miller. The song became Peebles' biggest hit when in 1973 it reached #38 on the US Pop Chart and #6 on the R&B/Black Chart. The single also reached #41 on the UK Pop Chart in April 1974. It was one of John Lennon's favorite songs and in a Billboard magazine article he commented, "It's the best song ever."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Can%27t_S...%28song%29

Tina re-recoreded her own version...

I'll never forget the first time I heard "I Can't Stand The Rain". I was spending the night in an airport terminal in Chaleroi Belgium and they played some darn good music (Zero 7, OutKast, etc.). I loved Ann Peebles' voice from the moment her voice came on and it took me all night to find the song all night. I have so much respect for Ann Peebles.

Off topic, but I've only spent a week in Belgium and I'm surprised that Chaleroi has an airport of any size. Isn't it just 25-30km from Brussels?

It's the airport that flies Ryanair for Brussels, so it is surprisingly big. Charleroi is also one of the most dangerous cities in Belgium. Some of the more notable event in the city's history is a terrorist bombing and being a serial killer's stomping ground.
