Division alignment based on history
The ACC loves tradition, right? So how about these divisions/cross-overs:

ATLANTIC - COASTAL
Original ACC Members:*
Clemson - Virginia
NC State - N Carolina
Wake Forest - Duke

Former Metro Conference:
Florida State - Louisville
Ga Tech - Va Tech

Former Big East:
Miami - Pittsburgh
B C - Syracuse

Geographic outliers: B C only.

PROBLEM: How to get COASTAL teams into Florida on a regular basis without a Florida team in the division?

*NOTE: I'm counting UVa as an original member since they joined after 1 season. The other 2 original members were S Carolina and Maryland.

Mark-
please be clear that UVa joined after one FOOTBALL season (not a school year).
The ACC was founded in May of 1953 and UVa joined in December of 1953.

Yes - since we were talking football, I just left that out. However, just thinking, didn't that also make UVa too late for basketball season that year?
