Lacrosse in S C
Against my better judgment I'm going to share this w/ you Lacrosse guys...

Greenville, SC News: National championships indicative of growing interest in lacrosse.

Quote:Your local sports calendar for the middle of May just began to overflow with competition in most every sport you can name other than football... Events like the 2013 Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association national championships open a window to the rest of the world.

The club sports championships for Division I and Division II are back in Greenville with two 16-team tournaments May 13 and 14 at Wenwood Park and May 16 and 18 at Sirrine Stadium.

Knock yourselves out!

The NCAA lacrosse championship is usually the third most attended championship behind football and basketball. Sometimes it's even had higher attendance than basketball, like in '08 and '06.

Lacrosse is catching on here in Texas, too. It mostly remains a club sport, though, as football, baseball and hoops coaches demand one-sport from their players. Also, each sport has off-season practice sessions, like college and off season workouts. These off season workouts are closely monitored by coaches, though they technically are voluntary

Anyway, kids play it as a club sport and they love it. Some are foregoing college scholarships in the main sports to play college lacrosse.

It's starting to catch on in Western North Carolina as well. Not surprisingly, the high schools in the Cherokee Indian reservation are some of the leaders for adding the sport.
