lol, It's not a Georgia State thing. Most agree that FCS achievements don't translate to success in the FBS. You need another kind of animal to compete at this level and Georgia Southern doesn't have the ingredients for success in the FBS.
Sure, Georgia State would have wished for a better start, but they can put that behind them now that they are in the FBS. They're in a better position than Georgia Statesboro University.

Burger -In your discussions about the move to the FBS, a few of your own fans discounted those national championships. Didn't some of them say "no one cares"? So while you tout them, other GSU fans call them meaningless.
TALON - Their are a few fans like that but 95% of our fans and players respect our past & traditions that we "earned on the feild"! As with some of ODUs own their will be no total agreement on all matters. Then again ODU has few football traditions and was a playoff calaber team but their pass happy offense ran into a road block when faceing GSU.
Burger - No one will care about your past FCS success. FBS National Championships will help but not FCS crowns. Less than 1% run the TO in the FBS. No one wants to be a part of that boring crap. Even the great TO masters, Nebraska put the coma inducing TO six feet under in favor of a pass friendly system.
TALON - And what has Nebraska done since their Option based National Championship runs of the past after they put the thier option offense 6 feet under? Its good that only 1% of collage teams only run a true option offense. It makes GSU hard to prepair for as ODU knows oh to well. Their are plenty of great high shool option team players out there that now have a chance at playing for GSU.
Burger - Here's the reality. Todays recruits are looking for a path to a career in the NFL. They're looking for that school that will allow them to profile their skills. Are you a lineman looking to play in the NFL after college? NFL scouts want to know if you can pass block and keep their QB safe. Not going to happen at GSU. Want to make millions in the NFL as a QB. Not gonna happen if you go to GSU. How about wide receiver. Nope, GSU ain't gonna help you there either. What about running back. hmmm. So if I'm a running back at GSU, there's a 33% chance that I won't get the ball. Instead that damn QB might decide to keep it himself and take away my highlight moment.
TALON - Funny, FCS teams said the same thing about GSUs Spread Option offense when we introduced it in 1984. 6 national championships latter and currently the top stats leader in all time Playoff system history they were proven wrong. Their are over 200 FCS & FBS colleges out their. Their are a lot of GREAT PLAYERS out their that will never see a NFL contract at the end of college. Georgia Southern will tap into those GREAT PLAYERS & some will make it to the NFL from our offensive system. All our Fulbacks average 1000+ yards a year and some much more. Our pitch backs can average 750 yards per year. So getting the ball 33% of the is a HIGH percentage of time. And you having a pipe line to recruiting is nice. Ever hear about the states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas? GSU picked up a great QB from Ohio this year.
Burger - Even a running back in our pass heavy scheme will still be able become a progression read in a pass play. That player can also impress scouts by being able to read blitzes and become a pass blocker. Oh and he will also run the ball too.
TALON - Our Pitch Backs and fullback do the same thing depending on the play.
Burger - It's our system that will attract players. Not only is Taylor H. a great QB, he's also a great selling point as well. We've already gotten commitments from several quality quarterbacks from across the nation. It looks like the high powered offensive tradition will continue.
TALON - High Powered Offense. Our offense ran up and down the feild on you for 2 strate years in the playoffs. Our you talking ODUs offense or GSUs offense? Didnt your HEAD COACH fire your DC even before he got back to his office at ODU because of the GSU game? Less you forget the scores were 55 to 48 & 49 to 35. So GSU averaged 52 points a game on ODU. So you think 52 points a game is a low powerd Offense?
Burger - Oh well, good luck in the FBS. You'll need it. I guess the only way to get a good crowd at your home games is to schedule UGA 6 times a year. Unfortunately we all know who they'll be rooting for.
TALON _ GSU averaged about 20,500 durring the regular season. Thats an overflow of 2500 fans in grass seating. With the addition of hard seating the people that want to attend now will have seats.
