Wisconsin, Indiana and that school up north are all traveling, but the Buckeyes are playing at home, and for some reason Maryland draws the short straw on that game. Odd, that.

Because someone had to host the suckers? The ACC picked their twelve on RPI, and, sadly, Notre Dame is not in the bottom 20% of the ACC by RPI.

I am sure there are some Hawkeye fans that are excited about the match up. It's just that I am not one of them.

It would be great if you were playing as a BIG school, facing an acc.

Yeah, could have played Notre Dame, and then only one ACC school would have been left out.

RE: 2013 B1G/ACC Challenge
I get using last year ranks going forward, but think for this one year, with all the transitions, they should have left Maryland out as its kind of in between conferences right now. It's already an odd year for that given they are including 3 teams who didn't compete in the ACC last year so that wouldn't be another huge deal.

No, That would be a bit over the top for the ACC. Their plan seems to be to put Maryland at the back of the line in slightly more subtle ways than that.

Going forward it will be interesting to see what effect the Big East teams have in the ACC & Big Ten in all sports. I believe Syracuse, Pitt and ND are going to have their way on the hardwood.

If the ACC had its way we would have. I think the B1G or ESPN must have fought for us. Maybe we'll even get a little history of the ACC tribute...

I'd put the Ville in that category as well. UofL has one of the best run athletic departments in college sports.

Men's soccer is one sport being reconfigured over the next two years ~ six of the Top-20 at the end of last season were in the Old Big East:

#2 Georgetown and #15 Marquette to the New Big East, along with #4 Creighton from the MVC (and many people expect #19 SLU in 2014);

#8 Notre Dame, #9 Louisville, #17 Syracuse to the ACC, to join #5 UNC;

#6 UConn will be joined in The American by #13 Tulsa

While #3 Maryland will join #1 Indiana and #18 Northwestern in the Big Ten.

Of course, past performance is no guarantee of future performance ~ some of these are established powers in the sport, others just happened to have a good team performance for the 2012 season.
