RE: B1G releases 2014 football schedule
We get Purdue and Nebraska as the cross division games, I say we go 1-1 in that, 5-3 in the Big Ten, 3-1 OOC. 8-4 Final Record + Bowl Game. Losses to Nebraska, Oregon, Michigan, and Ohio State.

Like I mentioned in the other forum, I think Iowa has 6 wins in front of them. Now if the Hawks could beat ISU and the requisite MAC team we'd be bowling in style in 2014/2015.

Hawks

RE: B1G releases 2014 football schedule
I am making no such predictions this year for the Hawks. I am not going to set myself up to be let down.

The way things are going, Indiana is on the way up. With that offense of theirs they may blow us out. Maryland may be a surprise after getting a boost to recruiting with Big Ten membership. Minnesota has proven they play at a higher level against Iowa than any other team, every year. Northwestern is the Hawks nemesis. Who knows with Illinois, we should beat them but nothing is for granted until this program gets turned around. Purdue? Well, we shall see on that one.

This coming season will tell us a lot about how the Hawks will fare in '14. Right now I wouldnt bet a single penny on them.

Hawks will be sub-par in 2013, but a new QB getting experience this year going into 2014 should be a good thing for us.

I'm cautiously optimistic this year but getting more bullish on next after looking at the schedule.

Interesting blog post on how the schedule came together.

Notable are the restrictions:

Quote:•Nonconference games that had been previously contracted were protected. For example, Northwestern visits Notre Dame on Nov. 15, 2014, so the Big Ten made sure not to schedule the Wildcats on that day. Also, Penn State and Rutgers had a previously scheduled non-league game for Sept. 13, 2014, which became a conference game with Rutgers joining the Big Ten. The date wasn't changed.
•No more than two consecutive road games
•Each team must play two home games and two road games in each half of the season

Interesting thing for Ohio State. We don't play a team that was in the Big Ten in the 1980s until November.

Like the schedule for 2014? Guess what, flip home/away and it's the schedule for 2015.

Per @BigTenMarkTV the B1G sked in '14 flips sites in '15. When B1G goes to 9 games in '16, every SA will play others at least once in career

2016 is when things will change.

Including cross-division games? Or would those swap out for a new set of two?

From what I understand, there is only one permanent crossover - IU/PU. Everything else is on rotation.

Including cross division games in 2015.

Cross division games have to change up in 2016, including not having home and away pairs for some schools, to hit the goal of every school at least once in 4 years ... but they need to have nine conference games to achieve that, so that rule comes into effect starting 2016.

In all seriousness, the fans can just nickname the trophy Delaware.

The Shells vs. The Shields...

A trophy of a terrapin with armor and sword... er, like a mutant ninja turtle? 04-rock
