Is that a good decision? How satisfied are Charlotte fans? What kind of success have you had recently?

He has 2 losing seasons and won 21 games last year.
His recruiting has been solid, but we've had a lot of transfers under him too. Some I excuse because they were players left over from the old regime that didn't fit his system and had their playing time cut, but we just had two of his recruits transfer after this season.
One was a freshman that averaged 6.5 ppg and 4.6 rpg.
The other was a soph that averaged 5 or 6 PPG. This guy was inconsistent, but showing signs that he could be a special player his last two seasons.
I feel like he had done enough to keep his job, but I don't think he should have gotten an extension, especially not a 3 year extension.

It Could have been worse. He could have gotten a four year extension.

I thought he would get a 2 year, really only becomes issue if he can't coach. I've seen more signs he can than can't. Now comes down to eliminating roster attrition each year.

Major has three strikes against him: they are the three "C's".
1. Communication Skills are challenged
2. Coaching ability is questioned
3. Charlotte is not behind him
The third one involves more than just him. The AD helped create the third one. It was created b/c of the AD's poor timing and handling of the previous BB coach's departure and her fight against starting the football program until she realize her efforts were a lost cause. He's her choice so he's guilty by association. The best thing that could happen for Major is for him to have a great year and another school hire him. But if him he has a great year and no other school comes calling, it will be more fuel for the fire.

1) Is true enough, but he's come a long way from where he was when we hired him.
2) The only thing questionable about his coaching skill is some of the player rotations he runs. Otherwise most objective viewers would say he a good X's and O's coach.
3) Let it go. Bobby's gone. He's not coming back.

#3 not really true. Yes, there are some, but a lot, like me, hope Major succeeds. Anyway, Bobby is gone. He was a great guy but he's not the coach anymore. It's way past time to move on.

1. Listen to what you said "he has come a long way" - you don't hire someone to lead your school if they have to come a long way.
2. "The only thing questionable is" how can you be a good X's & O's coach if you don't know which players should be on the floor.
3. Bobby is not an issue with me it was the timing. If Judy had fired him the year before she did it would have made more sense to me. The empty seats at Halton tell me Major doesn't have the city's support. And I don't want Bobby back, there is a possibility he has outgrown Charlotte. Now do you want to let's discuss how Judy fought getting a football team until she realized her effort was futile

1.) The previous coach, since you brought him up, wasn't exactly and exciting interview or up for being a huge presence. To be honest, I'd rather the AD do the talking and let coaches do their work on the playing fields/courts.
2.) His schemes are sound, his issue tends to be wanting to go 9 or 10 deep when he has the horses when 8 is adequate. He also, has no interest in blowing a team out by 25, if he can experiment and only win by 8. Can't say I agree with the larger rotation or the experiments he does with them, but the system he imploys isn't the broken portion of his coaching acumen.
3.) Again, it's the AD's job to market our sports. I don't fault a coach for that. The guy goes on Charlotte radio to talk up his team, he does the same amount as the last guy. It's the AD who puts paper signs out front on 14 x 24 signs on game day, and two billboards in a million+ population center.
I agree with you on football with her. Pretty sure 49erFN would also.
