Scheduling announcement @2 oclock. Incl. Crossovers for future
Get pumped louisville fans your first look at an ACC schedule!

@GTPaulJohnson: Look for rotating crossover schedule @theACC to come out today at 2p.m. This schedule thru the 2024 season.

Also goes along with FSU football tweet saying scheduling announcement at 2 o'clock today.

Man I was hoping the FSU thing was a great OOC matchup for the future. I have no doubt this will just piss me off further.....

Yep just a rotation of crossovers. No other changes. Complete nothing.

I really wish we had a 9 game schedule or no permanent rivals, but alas it is not meant to be. I loved playing Clemson and FSU, it will be 8 years before I can see them again in CH.

Well we have been over how I feel about this. This conference does its very best to fail on the football front. Maximizing assets isnt' a priority for the ACC. Common sense never prevails in football.

Hey we have an Atlanta school and a school in panhandle of Florida. Let's have them play twice every 12 years and have the Florida school play in NY/Boston every other year. Makes perfect sense!

Why don't they go in the same order in the back half that they do in the front?

It would also be nice if UVA and VT could drop their permanent crossovers.

Nice to see Louisville on an official ACC release. With UVa as a permanent cross over it looks like they literally took Marylands place.

I don't see the BC/VT game as a rivalry. I guess VT got the left over.

SU will always play it's crossover opponent on the road in "odd" years and at home in "even" years.

2013 at Ga Tech
2014 vs Duke
2015 at UVa
2016 vs Va Tech
2017 at Miami
2018 vs UNC.

On the back half we don't want to play at Ga Tech again in 2019, so Ga Tech/Duke are reversed, UVa/Va Tech, and Miami/UNC.

2019 at Duke
2020 vs Ga Tech
2021 at Va Tech
2022 vs UVa
2023 at UNC
2024 vs Miami.

If the graphic showed 2013 opponents along with 2014-2024, it would make sense. Then you would have the full 12 year cycle.

So we won't play VT (outside the championship game) for 7 years!
That blows!

It's great we're going to host both Miami & FSU our first year, but that means no trip to Florida, which I'm sure will disappoint our coaches. I guess it's not as important since we have FIU away next year.

So we'll just have to play each other in Charlotte then! 04-cheers

The way I'm reading it for 2014, Louisville will host Miami, Florida State, NCState, Wake & Kentucky. We'll have away games at Notre Dame, Clemson, Virginia, BC, Syracuse, Marshall & FIU... I say we'll postpone Marshall till a later year (or pay them off altogether) because we'll need another home game. Maybe we should schedule Cincy - we play them at Nippert in 2013 anyway.

We won't be seeing Miami at home until 2024?!? Explain to me again why we aren't going to 9 conference games?

Cheers,
Neil

RE: Scheduling announcement @2 oclock. Incl. Crossovers for future
Perhaps there is an obvious explanation I am missing, but why does everyone repeat their 2014 cross-over again in 2019, before finally meeting the last cross-over in 2020 for the first time? For example, UofL hosts Miami in 2014, heads to Miami in 2019, and then sees V Tech for the first time in 2020. That appears standard across the board.

I'm sure some like this set-up to protect rivalries such as UNC/NC State. For others, we get a forced rivalry (UofL vs UVA) every year & as a trade-off you only see six other conference opponents once every 6-7 years.

Neil, did you miss Note 1 at the bottom of the chart? Miami only travels to Syracuse in years Haley's Comet passes by, and even then can only make the trip when a full moon falls on the day of the game as well. 03-banghead

Match-ups are so spaced out that despite the fact that the chart goes to 2024, everyone has one match-up that doesn't even make the cut! For example, UofL @ VTech appears no where. One presumes that match-up occurs in 2025?

Syracuse could recruit a guy and entice him by letting him know he can come back for his 7th Homecoming as an alumni if he wants to see the Canes in the Dome.

As Orangefan points out above, I believe it's because the 2013 year is missing from the chart. Maryland is playing @VT this year and had they stayed would have had Miami at home in 2014. After you cycle through all 6 opponents in the other division that aren't your interdivision rival, they reverse the order at the beginning of the next 6-year cycle so had Maryland stayed they'd get Miami away in 2019 and VT at home in 2020.

Cheers,
Neil

Seeing this further validates the need for North and South divisions with a 9 game conference schedule.

Thanks. I re-read his above note. I understand what he is saying. I'm not going to take the time to see if a more sensical approach is possible with the way the schedule set-up is playing out.

The longer you look, the more oddities you see though. Regarding cross-overs, UofL sees:
-Miami, GT, & Duke every 5th year
-Pitt & UNC every 7th year
-Since we don't play in the ACC in 2013, we see VT once over the first 11 years in the league.
