Looks like the Pac 12 won't renew it's contract to play a Mountain West team.

Texas schools should travel well to this.

Texas schools better travel well. But I like the matchup. Good bowl pickup for CUSA.

Nice pickup. Where do we legitimately stand right now? From what I remember reading, it looks like this..

Heart of Dallas Bowl
Hawaii Bowl
Beef O Brady's Bowl
New Mexico Bowl

and then the new Boca Bowl if that comes to fruition and whether or not we hang onto the New Orleans Bowl bid. We absolutely must have six, and seven would be great. Honestly if we keep NO and add Boca, that's a pretty nice lineup of locations for bowl games. I'm not really all that interested in payouts, as it usually only matters how many tickets the schools can sell.

Keeping N.O. and adding Boca is probably best case scenario. We supposedly turned down Little Rock.

LA Christmas Bowl is reportedly going after MWC and AAC. If Montgomery gets approved we could end up playing Sun Belt there. LA, Boca, and Montgomery bowls are still big 'ifs'.

UTEP played in that bowl, it was the 2nd highest attended game they've had and UNM has played there twice. 32k and not very many byu fans at the game.

Sounds like a great bowl for CUSA's western teams.

I would love for Boca Bowl to come to fruition, but I aint holding my breath.

Is there the following?
St Petersburg Bowl
Military Bowl
R+L Carriers Bowl

I'm not sure so this post is really a question.

For teams on eastern part of US, what bowls will be available? Any chances of getting a tie-in to Birmingham's BOwl, that would work out well for WKU, MTSU, Marshall etc...I am glad WKU will have more bowl opportunities in the future, but I would hope to have a few bids for location on eastern teams that are somewhere closer too..

Military bowl most likely to the American. The New Orleans bowl also most likely to the American but I'm not sure if they will be dropping the Sunbelt or CUSA so it could be The American vs CUSA in the New Orleans

I believe Sunbelt has vested interest in the Nola bowl similar to the situation we have with the HOD Bowl.

If UTEP does go to the N.M. Bowl at least that's one place where we can come out ahead financially as it's just a bus ride away. But. That's one lousy stadium, you'll come home with a crink in your neck.

I think it's an under appreciated Bowl IMHO. NT, UTSA, UTEP, Rice, and Tech would all be up for the trip against a #2 or #3 MWC team. It would present some decent matchups and attend well.

RE: C-USA vs MWC in New Mexico Bowl?
I prefer the NM bowl vice a start up Rice/LA bowl but NM bowl has a hobo cheap payout.

A MWC opponent isn't terrible and CUSA-West should travel well but its only a small victory.

HoD 1.1 mil payout
Hawaii 650K
Beef 550K
NM 450K

We need to secure AT LEAST 2 more bowl tie ins for our 14 team conference. Preferably 3.

agreed, unless you're getting a BCS type payout. By the time you have to bus in the teams, house them for the game and pay for all other expenses the team is lucky to break even

I agree, this bowl should be left to the aac. Their fans don't travel too well, so might as well give them this bowl

RE: C-USA vs MWC in New Mexico Bowl?
Being brand new to bowl talk, I'm still very confused about why all the excitement about bowl games. My understanding is alot if not most teams lose money on these minor bowl games and they are not that widely watched. Are they considered important because they give a program credibility for recruiting? I could see how they might add to a programs perceived value as an addition to a higher profile conference, but realistically, outside of the P5 major bowls, I don't see what the big deal is.Someone fill me in.

Credibility to a degree.
Excitement!!
An oppurtunity to play a postseason opponent
Pageantry
Fun Vacation if you get a cool Bowl.
There is a lot of fun things to it.
Or you could just play in a postseason that really loses money and no one watches.
