If message board chatter is to be believed (HA!) C-USA could be trying to get MAC in the BOCA Bowl. That would seem to verify that the AAC/Marlins Bowl is moving ahead and the American is not interested in playing C-USA.

The game would be an easy to sell out given the right teams and the stadium is nice but nothing about Montgomery is interesting.

No but it would give the eastern teams a closer bowl. A sold out game would also look good, even in a small stadium.

Your right about the sell out part. How many CUSA and Sunbelt teams are within a 5-6 hour driving distance? A fairly easy cheap trip would make for an easy annual sell out.

It'd be better than not getting a bowl invite. Using Google Maps so may or may not reflect actual driving times.
Troy 1 hour
UAB 1.5 hours
Georgia State 2.5 hours
USA 2.5 hours
USM 4 hours
MTSU 4 hours
Ga Southern 5 hours
Western Kentucky 5 hours
Arkansas State 6 hours
ULM 6 hours
Louisiana Cajuns 6 hours
Charlotte 6 hours
LA Tech 6.25 hours

The proposed bowl in L.A. has a place holder site as well ( http://www.christmasbowl.org). A C-USA - MWC matchup has been mentioned. Ironically, the site is temporarily unavailable.

I haven't seen any mention of it lately. It would beat a trip to Little Rock or Montgomery.

I, too, recall a CUSA mention in the LA bowl along with MWC, AAC, and PAC. What struck me as odd was CUSA #1 was specified. I thought HOD was #1. I also read an article that said HOD was B1G vs. Big 12. Is HOD split? If so, may it pair with AFB? Intuitively, it doesn't make sense for the Armed Forces Bowl to give up 2/3 of the armed forces. Could CUSA#1 slide into the rotation when out of HOD say 1 out of 3 years?

San Antonio is considered one of the USA's 4 mystique cities along with: New Orleans, San Francisco and Honolulu; and at night the Alamo City comes alive downtown near the Alamo, the AlamoDome, HemisFair Park and on the River Walk.
This bowl game would have good local support. Heck! Look at the support 3 year old upstart football program UTSA is already getting from the locals! Guarantee you all the Texas-based schools in CUSA and the AAC have for darn sure noticed! LOL!

You're right, especially if CUSA loses the N.O. Bowl. Call it the Bluebonnet bowl.

What McMurphy expects so far...
Heart of Dallas (Dallas) vs. B1G/Big XII
Armed Forces (Ft. Worth) vs. MWC
New Mexico (Albuquerque) vs. MWC
Shared/Rotated Hawai'i Bowl (Honolulu) with AAC vs. MWC
There is also Shared/Rotated Beef O'Brady (St. Pete) with ACC vs. AAC. Still haven't seen any news regarding New Orleans. Only one bowl tie-in east of the Mississippi so far and it is shared with the ACC.
Thought we expected to lose the Armed Forces? So we're at 4 now with the two shared tie ins that I assume will be on opposite years. Two more gets us to the magic 6. Hopefully that's New Orleans and another bowl for our eastern teams.
I'd be very disappointed to lose the New Orleans Bowl. It's a great bowl in a great destination.

C-USA champ is not committed to any specific bowl after this year. HOD is expected to be C-USA vs. B1G/Big XII. In some years B1G/Big XII may not have enough teams to fill their slot in the HOD, so it would be nice to have another option for the champ.

Exactly right. You guys need two bowl tie-ins over there. If not, the CUSA East teams playing in the western bowls will not travel well. It will look bad and decrease our chances of keeping the bowl.

yep exactly, hopefully CUSA is working on this behind the scenes, you know the eastern schools I am sure have expressed their concerns over this...

Lets do it, geographically none of this bowl talk is matching up to where schools who would be playing in vs. where these bowls are located...I doubt if WKU made New Mexico bowl our fan base would be thrilled or have the money to travel 2k to New Mexico in Dec...Last year was bad just traveling to Detroit in a blizzard for our first bowl game ever..

I feel ya but playing in a bowl half way across the country is way better than being bowl eligible and staying at home. The good thing about CUSA is we won't have teams with 6+ wins left out....hopefully.
We need those extra tie-ins
