OT: Anyone else have fraudulent credit card charges the past week?
I had $1200 worth of charges on a credit card that my bank called me about. My dad had the same problem and we both happen to order brewing supplies from the same company. I posted on one of the beer forums and 13 other people had the same problems the past few days. The company says its just a coincidence that 13 people came forward in the threads first 600 page views (100 of which were probably mine).
So to test their theory, I have come to my favorite active forum to ask if anyone here had fraudulent charges the past week? Specifically Wednesday-Saturday? Thanks!!

My buddy had a fraudulent charge last week, but it was only one charge for like $30. I wouldn't have even posted but he used to live in NC and is big into beer, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it's related.

I'm part of a group of home brewers, I buy all my supplies locally. But if you could let us know what site it was so that I can warn them, that would be fantastic.

Typically, the credit card companies are the ones that sniff these out, right down to where the exposure occurred. And they are carnivorous when they find a breach.
if the brewing company left your personal information exposed, they have had their pci compliance reopened and are almost certainly undergoing a forensic analysis -- which, from what I understand, is every bit as uncomfortable as it sounds.
but the immediate point in this particular case is that your credit card company is your ally in this. they aren't always 100% forthcoming, but they should give you more information that the little you have received so far..
