OT: FBS Map 2.0
I went ahead and updated the first map I created. This will be FBS in 2015-2016 assuming no new additions (if I missed your school, let me know) Logos are (mostly) updated where applicable and bigger and as directly centered on the schools location as possible given space constraints. I'll be doing individual conferences and add them as I go.

UPDATE: SEC Map added

Nice map. Good Lord, Texas has 11 FBS teams these days. No other state can come close.

When you look at the map. You can see why Arkansas should have been in the Old Big 8.

RE: OT: FBS Map 2.0
Yes, 12 teams, Texas could be its own conference if it wanted to (and we tried that already)

Tech is the only FBS team in the great plains divide between east and west

Another interesting thing I noticed is the big, circle around the Ozarks/Mississippi swamps that only have LTU and ULM in its center

Yup. Forgot about UTEP. Talk about lonely out there--it's like the other Texas programs made UTEP go sit in the corner. The other thing that the map makes obvious is how empty the west is.

It's easy to miss UTEP. They might as well be in New Mexico.

Ohio has 8 which might be more or similar per capita

Nice work!

I really need to get out West sometime... it appears to be wonderfully remote.

yes I was wondering that too. What is the breakdown for each state per person. Texas may have 12 teams but it has, what 25M people, so that is a little over 2M people per BCS team. Whereas Nebraska has only 1 team with a small population, so it has 1.8M per BCS team so it all works out about the same.

North Carolina & Louisiana looks like they have way too many teams for their population. New York has too few.

Texas is quickly thinning out their talent pool. Big P5 will do ok but the increasing pressure is on the AAC/CUSA/SunBelt Texas schools.

And when Tulsa goes over to the AAC it will G5 if I recall correctly and so will be Temple.

No wonder TT has very good attendance: Where else can people there go for entertainment?

There's the Buddy Holly Center (Buddy grew up in Lubbock), Joyland Amusement Park, Cactus Theater, Science Spectrum-Omni Theater, or several other options to occupy your time. You should travel once in a while. There's lots of stuff to do, if you open your eyes and look around...

MWC divisions look remarkably compact considering how spread out the west is.

This next round of realignment will be the most extreme yet, with all but one current FBS program included in the new division.
