"Under the Dome" renewed, really
Some might think that with ordering a second season of this Stephen King novel is good news. I don't because it implies that mystery will not be solved at the end of this season.

How long can they stretch the premise? The various weekly crises (meningitis, water shortage) will get boring. I want an answer, not another season.

I saw the first 3 episodes of this and deemed the whole mess to be mindlessly stupid. Maybe some day I will tackle the 1000+ page book for context.

I really wanted to like it, but my problem is that there isn't one character I like.

Ah! Maybe that's the reason for the dome. To quarantine a town completely full of totally unlikeable people.

Wait.. It's not like a mini-series like 4 nights and it's done, it's a show with seasons. Dumb.

Thats my problem too. All of the characters are annoying, even the ones who aren't supposed to be. The girl cop and the girl reporter are the worst.

The show strays very much from the book.

I watched the first two episodes. One of the worst shows I've ever seen.

RE: "Under the Dome" renewed, really
Under the Dome should've been four episodes max, running around a total of three hours like other King miniseries. When they tried to adapt the novel while also straying from the source material, the act wore thin pretty quickly. I think one problem is just that a dome isn't good enough 'villain,' if that makes any sense. In zombie shows and movies, the undead work as a plot device because they're naturally a good enemy for the characters while also bringing out the worst in them. A dome just sits there, and when you try to base your show and your characters around it, you're left with very little material for them to work with in the 'man becomes a monster after extreme events occur' genre.

Yeah I thought this might be another "The Stand" miniseries but sadly it isn't.

I'm done watching it.

At least "The Bridge" and "Ray Donovan" are entertaining and the upcoming final "The Killing" episode should be dynamite.

Since I haven't read the original book, I have a different perspective -- I like the show, but I did expect for the purpose of the Dome to be revealed at season's end. Not sure, however, if it warrants another season...

I've never really figured out the appeal of Steven King's work. The premise of his stories seem simplistic and the characters always seem cardboard. The Dome seems pretty typical of the adaptations I've seen over the years. I've watched it because the wife wanted to, but I always feel like I've wasted an hour when I do.

One the other hand it is being filmed in the Wilmington, NC area so another season is a boost to our economy.

One of the worst King novels I have read. Watched the pilot and came to my senses and didn't watch it again.
