No ranked C-USA teams (shocking), but Tulsa has 9 votes and ECU 3

RE: 1st Coaches Poll released
Hard for me to hide my hatred of preseason rankings though. A team like, say Oklahoma State (hard to say for sure who it will be, but there will 100% be multiple teams who don't deserve their spot), is gifted a spot in the top 15 without doing anything to earn it. That team can lose a couple games and still be ranked. Meanwhile, a good c-usa team will now have to go undefeated to get to that spot that was just gifted to an AQ team. If it loses a couple games, it's all over

I never really minded them when they were just for fun. But when it is 1/3 of the BCS formula, it's really criminal to do preseason polls. They can make or break a team's BCS hopes before a down of football is played.

It's all part of the conspiracy. Notice I didn't say "a" conspiracy because it has been going on for decades. It's like the separate but equal dogma of the mid 20th century to keep whomever down and in a lower status. 04-chairshot

How is USC ranked every preseason and they have sucked the last 5 seasons? Preseason Poll is worthless...How is it every season a MAC team or someone similar ends up being ranked but it takes about 8 weeks due to our type of teams never getting any votes to start with....Bunch of crap...

How does an Ole Miss team staring a 1-6 or 2-5 start in the face get 32 votes?

Answer: "Hey look! An SEC team I hadn't voted for yet!"

This puts Tulsa and ECU in good position to get ranked this year. If you can start out with some votes, and win, it is much easier to move up rather than trying to get somebody's attention after receiving no votes.

Unless fate has you opening at the #6 team in the preseason poll and pull off the monster upset... 04-cheers

That would probably get us receiving about 10 votes. If, say, Wisconsin did it, they'd be top 10

As an aside I realize that college football live on ESPN is nothing more than a pimping promo for the SEC, but last night the announcers surprised me when they actually said that the Tulsa v. Florida game is a tough one to call. I didn't even realize that the ESPN crews even knew that there were other football programs outside of the B10, SEC and PAC12, but apparently they must have been paying some attention to some of the other leagues.

How many votes would it be worth if two of your OOC opponents were ranked 18th and 19th and a third was receiving votes...and you beat all three in consecutive games on the road?

RE: 1st Coaches Poll released
Being that we started getting a few votes if we can win the first 2 and pull the upset of VT we likely get ranked. That's a pretty tall order but it's doable.

It's not how you start, it's where you finish. Although with ECU getting votes, the rest of the East Division should just give up - they are that damn good! LOL!

7-1 with the one loss to a team that's gone.

We were last year, and return just about everyone.
